So this happened/is happening/will happen forever somewhere in the digital universe, and YOU can watch it right here! Thanks, Edward — it was a ton of fun!
From the new Musk doc (which I can't bring myself to see): new song by David Byrne and the film's composer, David Pemberton, lyrics all taken from crazy sh*t Musk said.
Thank you, Thomas! I hope you like it — a change of setting for me ...
I'm beyond thrilled to be part of this — can't wait to see & read the finished book — with gorgeous artwork (natch) and stellar writers, it's the perfect thing to read as the veil thins between the worlds.
I would say that is the best answer ever on your part!
25 years ago a friend gave me The Beauty of the Husband, and I fell in love with Carson's work, devouring Eros the Bittersweet, The Autobiography of Red, her translations of Euripides and Sappho and the many essays and poems she's written since. Great news on a grey day.
Lol, too true. But seriously, maybe being evil helps a teeny tiny bit sometimes??
Yes — I had a total bomb at that very early in my career when a well-known (at the time) editor asked me (in person) to pitch my next novel. Reader, I failed.
Thanks, Lavie! See you in the new year, I hope!
Thanks, Chris! 💙
Yeah, I cannot tell you how much I loathe it. Probably you can guess by how seldom (and poorly) I peddle my work online!
Also, this:
Thanks so much, Molly! Yeah, for whatever reason it's not on anyone's radar. I'm not good at self-promotion (it gives me a rash) so I'm doing my best now!
My new novel is out a week from today — tough timing because of the election & uh, you know, the world. With book reviews an extinct species, it's hard to get the word out. So tell your friends! Meanwhile, I've started the next one, folkish horror set in a bog at a remote Maine hunting camp. Onward!
Thanks so much! I hope you enjoy it — a slight shift from Hill House (though still another big house or two) …
RIP Cheetah Chrome. I saw the Dead Boys in 1970s DC & they were great. Always dug this Stones cover, from their second, more polished album, though nothing beats their first and ”Sonic Reducer” (original version was back when he was with Rocket from the Tombs). None of those guys made old bones …
Right? And you've seen me IN PERSON, so you know how accurate that is, lol.
A family member once observed, not unkindly and also accurately, that in childhood photos, I look like a little girl in a Roz Chast cartoon. This still often holds as an adult.
RIP Duncan Sheik, way too young.
Hey wow how cool?? How did I not know your new book is coming out!!! Going to order NOW!
