I just might, I have been thinking about needles and hooks, and how one could still listen to an audiobook at the same time (depending on the pattern)! BTW, I loved The Goldfinch, I wanted it to last forever; it's The Little Friend I've not yet gotten 'round to.

I hadn't heard of that, but how interesting! My favourite part of knitting was following different patterns and seeing them take shape like waves, so I can imagine seeing the remainder of a word come into being would be fun. (With regular crocheting, I've only ever made a tea cosy!)

That's great! Were the letters fun or tedious? Or, both? :)

Some exciting news: I have signed a contract to write 'Reading George Eliot: An Introduction' for the Routledge series Reading Literature Today. It seems like the book I have been preparing to write my whole career.

The weekly round up of literary links by @bookjotter.bsky.social will reliably introduce you to at least two (but probably a dozen) articles about #books, #bookshops, #libraries, #publishers, and completely unreasonable #reading goals and plans. (Yes, I'm "behind".)

On Abra/Gaining Ground:
"One of the most impressive things about this novel is how sensitively and perceptively Barfoot writes about the disconnect between Abra as a person in her own right and her life as a wife and mother."
