People unfairly shit on CSS-in-JS when Linaria and Yak.js exist without any runtime overhead

@luca.schneider.isOct 6, 2026, 6:05 PM

How is it different from changesets?

@luca.schneider.isOct 5, 2026, 12:41 PM

Depends on which CSS-in-JS Runtime? I agree Build time? I don't

@luca.schneider.isOct 5, 2026, 7:26 AM

Everything depends on rules and tools, so I like it to be baked in so that the wrong things are hard and the right ones easy. And therefore I totally agree with: "code organisation should never negatively impact UX" Thank you for your thoughts ☺️

@luca.schneider.isOct 5, 2026, 6:31 AM

Totally! We've seen similar numbers on our page.

But CSS-Modules aren't colocated as nicely as styled-components as ot has multiple files to take care of and sometines it's hard to figure out if a style is still needed or not.

Why not combining both approaches with something like yak.js.org?

Sometimes I just need to switch off. For me, that means four days of gaming with my best friends since childhood. We all have busy lives now, but meeting here every year, at Switzerland's biggest LAN party, is simply the best. 🎮

Niiice ☺️ Let's do that

@luca.schneider.isSep 28, 2026, 8:09 PM

😥

@luca.schneider.isSep 28, 2026, 4:16 PM

Yes I think the should be published :)

Looking forward to my first international talk 🇬🇧😊 I'll be in London from Thursday (22.10) till Sunday morning (25.10). Let's meet if you're also there :)

looks comfortable 🙂

I closed this post. I got quite overwhelmed with all the replies as I thought this would maybe attract one person if I'm lucky 😅 I got quite a few leads (even local ones) and I will try to find someone that is matching my ideas the best. Thank you all for your time and replies

@luca.schneider.isSep 24, 2026, 5:27 PM

Go ahead 😊

@luca.schneider.isSep 24, 2026, 5:26 PM

Yes

@luca.schneider.isSep 24, 2026, 5:25 PM

I never thought of this amount of replies so your comment totally makes sense 😅 not yet. It's the only image I'm happy with but I would love to hear ideas

@luca.schneider.isSep 24, 2026, 5:16 PM

Yeah a better version of our own yak mascot and maybe also in different poses:

Yes 😅 Thank you for the heads up. I didn't think so many would answer, but it seems I'm now in the bubble 😅 I didn't think of bots or disguised ai agents so your answer is really appreciated 🙈

@luca.schneider.isSep 24, 2026, 7:32 AM

Yes exactly. But it should become easier and more convenient to use. And one alternative is not enough 😅

@luca.schneider.isSep 24, 2026, 6:15 AM

I'm really overwhelmed by how amazing @ryansolid.bsky.social is managing solid, it's RC phase and supports downstream projects like our @yak/solid (npmx.dev/package/@yak...) experiment. Really well done and we can learn a ton out of it.

@luca.schneider.isSep 24, 2026, 4:00 AM

Do you know anyone that does mascot/icon design? I know AI is pressuring them, but I want to support human made art instead.
