If Oasis do come to Celtic Park, it will not be entirely unique.

In the past, the Gallagher brothers have been at Parkhead to hear their tunes rocking the ground, not least ‘Roll with it’ after the 6-2 win in 2000.

That will again happen in 2027.

These include wartime recruitment displays and large religious gatherings, such as Catholic masses and a Billy Graham evangelical event.

Concerts have been staged at the venue since the 1970s.

Acts such as The Who, Prince, Bryan Adams, U2 and Wet Wet Wet have performed there.

Major ceremonies have also been held at Celtic Park.

The European Special Olympics in 1999 and the 2014 Commonwealth Games both used the ground for opening ceremonies (and also closing in 2014).

Women’s football has featured at the stadium at different times.

This includes a World War One match pitting England against Scotland.

And in 2024, a dramatic last minute winner gave Celtic Women their first league title.

Various forms of racing have occurred at Celtic Park.

Events included motorbike speedway and greyhound racing in 1920s.

In a slower sense, there was even competitive walking in the 1890s.

Team sports beyond football have also been played at Celtic’s home.

Rugby, hockey, shinty, hurling and GAA games have all taken place there.

In the early 1900s, manager Willie Maley tried to sign one of the rugby players!

Other sports appeared at Celtic Park during the World War One era.

Baseball and boxing matches were staged, with boxing continuing into the post war period.

Cycling was another major attraction in the early years, thanks to a cinder track around the pitch.

The venue hosted the 1897 World Cycling Championships and this continued until World War One.

Athletics events became an annual tradition at Celtic Park.

These pre season sports days continued until at least after World War One.

Many early Celts were also champion runners, such as Willie and Tom Maley.

The first event at the new Celtic Park in 1892 was an athletics meeting.

Crowds attended over two days before football began a week later.

The current Celtic Park opened in 1892. From the outset, it was intended as a multi purpose venue.
