They already can intervene today by simply not adopting any legislative proposals they don’t like. 🤷‍♂️

Op zich geen slecht idee om politieke spelletjes over handhaving te vermijden. Maar of het het gebrek aan handhaving gaat oplossen, betwijfel ik. Er zijn momenteel al onafhankelijke instanties (bv DPAs) en die handhaven ook te weinig.

The larger public in Europe may miss this. But every diplomat and international relations expert and pundit here sees this and will remember for a generation: after the US promised to protect Ukraine if it gave up its nuclear weapons, it is now openly supporting Russia. The great American betrayal.

Obviously, Trump's decision is awful. But the reality is Russia doesn't have diesel to spare.
