Third trilogy complete!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The complete Echo Archives trilogy on a table

WORDS INSIDE TOO!!! WHAT THE HECK WHO WROTE THOSE

Photo of the first page, which I’m going to try to cut and paste: TRUST YOUR GUT
The day of my first murder stared with a simple dog job.
It was a normal retrieval from the first Echo, the safest mission imaginable. This was the sort of work I'd been doing since I'd resumed active Hound dury: quick feel-good Echo retrievals, bringing lost kids and dogs back to their families. Nothing too dangerous, though 1 cried like a big sentimental fool at every reunion. I never used to, but since the baby came my eyes had apparently turned into foodgates. It was embarrassing. Another reminder that even though the job hadn't changed while I'd been away from it, I had changed, which was a weird feeling.
This dog run should have been about as easy as going to the mar-ket. I even had an Echo-worked lodestone, checked out from the guildhouse stores, its chamber primed with fur plucked from the distraught owner's shirt. Everything had been going smoothly for three months now, since the Lovegrace affair last Blood Moon—no horrible Echo games, no mysterious deaths, no meddling Empyreans (well, unless you counted my girlfriend). Rika and Emmi and I had settled into a rhythm of living that felt secure, almost normal, like maybe it could keep going this way. Like we could have a life together without world-bending, blood-splattered emergencies grabbing us by the hair nd dragging us down into the deep.

Back side! Complete with words!!!

Okay so this is a pic of the back of the book and there’s a ton of text and I’m going to try to copy and paste it from the pic but I’m 51 years old and have big clunky fingers so my apologies if I mess this up! Here goes: ARCHIVES TRILOGY IS A WHIP-SMART ADVENTURE FANTASY WHERE A DETECTIVE MUST SOLVE THE GREATEST MYSTERY OF ALL-HER OWN MURDER.
Kembral Thorne is back on the job. Everything is going great—she hasn't been in mortal peril for months, her daughter is learning to crawl, and she's thinking about getting serious with her girlfriend, cat burglar Rika Nonesuch. But then a simple mission goes wrong, and a mysterious
Echo hires her for her most dangerous case yet.
This time, the murder Kem must solve is her own.
Her first warning: Watch out above you.
The cryptic messages give Kem an edge against her would-be murderer-but there's more at stake than her own. survival.
Rips in the very fabric of reality are spreading through the Echoes, and Kem's blood is the only thing that can close them. To save all the worlds, Kem must figure out who she can trust—and Rika must decide how much of her humanity she'll sacrifice for the power to protect the woman she loves.

Any announcement about an Illumicrate edition would have to come from Illumicrate first, so if I knew anything I couldn't say anything until they say something!

@melissacaruso.bsky.social wrote the exact sort of book I want to read. I am having the absolute best time right now. I've been listening to the audiobook & the narrator @moiraquirk.bsky.social is PHENOMENAL. I am at 81% and about to go buy the physical copy and the sequel after work

@melissacaruso.bsky.social Oct 8, 2026, 7:08 PM

Yay!!!! Her narration is SO GOOD, and I can't wait to hear it on the new book!!!

Oh and I've had multiple local readers ask, but as of yet I don't have any release day bookstore events for THE LAST STAR IN THE VOID! I'm guessing that at this point most bookstores probably have full calendars for November, so probably safe to preorder? (Would be happy to do one if asked though!)

@melissacaruso.bsky.social Oct 8, 2026, 5:43 PM

I don't think I'm allowed to answer this question but I may have a big grin on my face right now for no reason

@melissacaruso.bsky.social Oct 8, 2026, 5:36 PM

You'll be happy to know Jaycel is in fact up to some mischief again in this one!

@melissacaruso.bsky.social Oct 8, 2026, 5:34 PM

I may have cackled a bit when I came up with that one 😂

Just a little more than one month until THE LAST STAR IN THE VOID comes out! Still time to catch up with the rest of the trilogy!

If you like your books fast-paced, sapphic, a little bonkers, and full of sword fights and banter, check it out!

Not yet, but that's the goal! (She did get shortlisted for the Dell Award twice though!) She writes SFF, so my dream is to someday get to do a mother/daughter panel or something together 💕
