How have we reached a point where headlines about “anti-migrant activists” are everywhere? When the language of “protest” or “activist” is used it ushers in the belief that people's humanity is up for debate. It’s time to call these activities what they are.

This image collage contrasts two sets pf photos. The top section shows a diverse group of protestors holding signs supporting migrants, with text reading "This is a protest." They are smiling, their signs are colourful and say things like "care, hope and welcome". The text overlaid says "this is a protest". The bottom section shows a crowd at the recent actions in Gosport and Dover where people are marching on the street all dressed in black. The text overlaid says "This is a hate march."

Our thoughts go out to the loved ones of the two women and young child who died, as well as migrant and refugee communities across the country.

More deaths at our border. Totally preventable. We are devastated.

This is what happens when there is no way for people to safely reach the UK in order to claim asylum. Their only option is to risk their life in a boat.

This is how the government should move away from the use of shoddy and costly private temporary accommodation - homes in communities, not camps!

This campaign demands something we are urgently calling for too - funding councils to buy up some of the hundreds of thousands of empty homes in the UK and making them available for all people in our communities, including people seeking asylum. you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/fu...

The government is wrong to house people seeking asylum in former military sites. But the answer isn’t to demonise people seeking safety. It’s to create more decent housing for all. Listen to our Policy Manager Ben Whitham talk about this on LBC from 16:25:07: www.globalplayer.com/live/lbcnews...

The people of Piddington have symbolically voted to leave the UK. Some organisers are calling themselves “plucky underdogs”. But who are the real underdogs - residents of an Oxfordshire village, or people seeking asylum, survivors of things like war, persecution and torture?

We came to Number 10 with a housewarming gift - 8,450+ names calling for an asylum system built on welcome, fairness and dignity. And we brought the key to a better asylum system with us! Seemore in our blog: https://www.refugee-action.org.uk/in-westminster-our-housewarming-card-to-andy-burnham/

Jonathan and his fellow campaigner look elated, waving signs which say "a key to a better asylum system". Big ben is behind them.

What we saw this weekend cannot become the norm. People seeking asylum were targeted, as racist violence and intimidation escalated. We’ve joined more than 150 organisations calling on the government to act urgently and take concrete steps to stop it.

To refugees: you are welcome here. We stand with you. Your safety matters. People wearing masks, marching through our streets and stoking fear, are unacceptable. It’s more than “thuggery”. It’s racism, walking boldly through our communities. And it's emboldened by political rhetoric.

The image features a black and white background with people holding signs. Overlaid text reads, "DON'T MAKE RACISM MORE WELCOME THAN REFUGEES."

Can you imagine fleeing war and persecution, only to have violent mobs attempt to storm the place you live? When politicians scapegoat migrants and refugees, it doesn't just stay in Westminster. This is the result.

The image features a bold message stating, "Everyone should feel safe in their homes. Refugees are no exception." Below, there are two news headlines: one from The Times about asylum seekers taken to safety during Thetford protests, and one from the Daily Mirror about police escorting residents to safety during anti-immigration protests in Thetford. The word "safe" is highlighted in green, and "no exception" is highlighted in orange.

MPs warned the Immigration and Asylum Bill is "unsafe and unworkable" and challenged the rise of far-right politics. The answer to the far right isn't to copy its politics. Scrap the bill.

Local elections are tomorrow 🗳️ If you can vote, make it count. Candidates are knocking on doors. Ask what they stand for. • Will everyone have a safe place to live? • Will people seeking asylum be treated with dignity? • Do you support safe routes? Even one question makes a difference.

The voices of people seeking safety are missing from too much media coverage of this summer's racist attacks. Let's make sure Nabil is heard loud and clear.
