I’ve seen reports that possibly all coasters from that manufacturer across the chain have been shut down at least temporarily. If I was management, that would be my first move too.

CP has amazing rides! But I agree that the frequency of these events coming out of parks all over is cause for second thoughts.

X2 at Six Flags Magic Mountain just shut down after being named in over 100 lawsuits related to severe brain injuries. With all this taking place in such a short span it feels like we’re on the verge of a major renaissance in thrill ride design and safety requirements.

Since then, there have been even more widespread incidents around the country. Siren’s Curse, the newest coaster at Cedar Point, malfunctions regularly! Videos and photos are posted to social media frequently.

In fact, after doing research at my local park, Cedar Point, I realized the severity of injuries that have occurred there too. And on rides I had just enjoyed!

Monday’s tragedy at Six Flags is awful. Having just written an upcoming book about amusement parks and their design, my research showed that incidents at parks are more common than most people realize.

New show idea: This Dumb House

I re-listened to “Slough House” by Mick Herron while driving back and forth to NYCC. I have already listened to all the books, and apparently need to re-listen to them all again. The show does a good job bringing the world to life, but the book’s prose… there’s no replacement.

What happened to the people who took Vicks Formula 1 through 43? The commercial they ran during the ALCS game 1 said it took 44 times to get the formula right.

Mouthfeel level: Brillo pad

My third Usagi panel was a success! Two at SDCC and our first at NYCC. Beyond proud to be steering Stan’s beloved world into new directions and working with great creators. It’s a dream come true. Be sure to check out Usagi Yojimbo, Kaitō ‘84, and The Last Yojimbo!

I ❤️ NY(CC)
