The Memorial Cloth is a 60-metre commemoration the honours the names of thousands of children that died as a result of residential schools in Canada. It is displayed each year as part of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation event on Parliament Hill.
On this day I’m thinking of all residential school survivors - my aunties and uncles and grandparents and in particular but also Phyllis Webstad, the founder of the Orange Shirt Society whose memoir I wrote the foreword for - check it out!
