From America, Nov 1977: XL 400S Sound Movie Camera ad from Sankyo (+Kodak Sound Film Cartridge and Boom Microphone) «Catch Your Wife Cheating. Sankyo makes it easy.»

A vintage advertisement for Sankyo's XL 400S sound movie camera. It shows a woman in rollers eating cake from the refrigerator. Text humorously suggests using the camera to catch her cheating on her diet. It highlights the camera's easy-to-use features, quality sound recording, and clear picture quality.

Catch Your Wife Cheating. Sankyo makes it easy.

Alice insisted she wasn't cheating on her diet. Then late one night I heard noises in the kitchen. Figured it might be a good time to see if my new
Sankyo sound movie camera really was as easy to use as the salesman said.
It was. Now I have a really super sound movie called Alice's Midnight Binge. I
zoomed in to get a close-up of her red face. The microphone caught her surprised protests as
well as her muttered threats. Even with just the kitchen light for illumination, my movie
came out sharp and clear. With perfect color.
Of course, Alice won't let me show that movie to anyone. But I've
made lots of others. The Sankyo sound movie camera is a real
dream to use. All I do is pop in a Kodak™ sound film cartridge.
Plug in the mike. Aim and shoot.
The Sankyo sound movie camera takes care of all the ad-
justing by itself. Automatically. So I don't have to worry. By just
looking in the viewfinder, I can tell that the picture is perfectly
focused, the film is running properly, the sound level is correct,
and the exposure is right. Sankyo makes it impossible for me to
goof. Yet I spent less on my Sankyo than Alice spends on fad diets.
Yesterday Alice learned how to use the Sankyo sound movie
camera. In only 15 minutes. I heard her whispering something to the kids
about "Daddy's snoring". Wonder if she's plotting something to get even
for Midnight Binge?
Drop us a note, we'll send you the whole story. SANKYO Seiki (America) Inc., 149 Fifth Ave., New York, N.Y. 10010

From America, Oct 1939: Canned Vegetables ad from Green Giant (+Canned Corn and Canned Peas) «HERE'S A FELLOW YOU CAN TRUST»

A vintage advertisement for a brand of canned corn and peas featuring a giant and poetic text explaining their growing and processing standards.

HERE'S A FELLOW YOU CAN TRUST

He's a vegetable expert, strong and reliant
He's known by your grocer as the jolly
Green Giant.
In the Land where Hiawatha
Grew to Bravehood, strung his bow
There's another sturdy fellow
Lots of Dinner Tables know.
In this selfsame land Paul Bunyan
Roamed with Babe, the Big Blue Ox,
But our hero settled farmlands
Cleared his farms of trees and rocks.
Hiawatha was the hunter;
Paul Bunyan chopped down trees;
But our Giant stuck to farming
Featured special corn and peas.
Picked a Minnesota farmland
Added more farms one by one
Grew the better peas he promised
Grew the goldest corn-bar none!
Green his peas are, green and tender,
Crisp and fresh and sweet as honey
For their seed is like no other
More fine flavor for the money.
Gold his corn is, as a sunset,
Tasting like corn-off-the-cob
But to breed the seed that grows it
Was a twenty-year-long-job!
...
So when you go out to your grocery
(As go oftentimes you must)
Note the Green Giant on the label
He's a fellow you can trust!
He'll Never Let You Down - This Green Giant
Every can you open brings you the same flavor enjoyment.... Far back in
the fields is the secret of its goodness. Controlled soil, controlled har-
vesting and special controlled breeds - 20 years of scientific horticulture.
Niblets Brand Corn (from our secret Breed
D-138) has especially deep kernels of con-
trolled and uniform tenderness, sliced from
cob and packed fresh in vacuum tins.
Green Giant Brand Peas (from Breed
S-537) extra large and tender. Packed at
"the fleeting moment of perfect flavor"-
often less than three hours from field to can.
Both are grown to a standard of quality without fudging or compromise.
The care and conscience which has gone into them shows on your table.
Years ago we adopted the Green Giant as an honest symbol of quality.
