Good catch! Our rebranding elves are working as quickly as we can and newly branded fare materials will be out in the world very soon. For riders with old RTA-issued permits, they will still work until they expire.
A year ago, our stateβs transit system faced a doomsday scenario of service cuts and fare hikes that would have left riders stranded. Now, weβre driving Illinois forward with the Northern Illinois Transit Authority providing better service and making fares more affordable.
This week NITA is the proud host of @humantransit.bsky.socialβs Intensive Transit Network Design Course in which local Chicago planners, advocates, developers and more have come together to dive deep into transit planning and how to use it to create better cities and towns. π§βπ«

βBy making Access available across CTA, Metra, and Pace, weβre making a successful pilot available to thousands more riders, providing a regional benefit and making transit more affordable for riders who need it most" -- NITA Board Chair Tom Kotarac. nita.illinois.gov/riders/access
Beginning today, the NITA Access Pilot Program officially expands to the CTA and Pace, allowing eligible riders experiencing low incomes to apply for reduced transit fares across Metra, CTA, and Pace. ππ

Seeking to reduce delays for CTA riders in downtown Chicago, officials plan to install a new dedicated bus lane on Michigan Avenue.
Nearly 1,500 daily buses serve 22,000 weekday passengers along 21 different routes on the 1.5-mile stretch of Michigan Avenue between Wacker Drive and Roosevelt Road. It's one of the busiest bus corridors in the CTA system β which is why it was chosen for a new dedicated bus lane.
We're committed to building a safer and more accessible transportation system. By creating a dedicated bus lane on Michigan Avenue, we are reducing delays, improving service, and ensuring that the thousands of Chicagoans who rely on public transit can get where they need to go.
Help @nitachicago.bsky.social prioritize the improvements that matter most to you! Take the online survey and share your priorities for everyday transit service and long-term investments as NITA develops its first regional budget for CTA, Metra, and Pace.
