According to the CDC, there are 7 cases of plague in the United States every year (on average). Most of them are bubonic plague, but in 2025 a man died of pneumonic plague in Arizona. I don't know why the fact that this was in Russia makes it look more scary..

Long formal Italian letter.. sembra spaventoso 😂

Great thread! Also some similarities to the issues that Caesar had crossing the channel

The only way to have a clue what is going on. It seems that in Europe (Germany, Austria, Belgium) the situation is still relatively easy

Probably all while "deconstructors" were laughing at them because for them, no migration ever actually took place 😅

@albertoreale.bsky.socialSep 23, 2026, 12:47 PM

Well, maybe another, better documented counterexample comes from Western Europe 1950-1970

Shouldn't it be cave elephantEM?

@albertoreale.bsky.socialSep 21, 2026, 9:29 AM

Because they self-tested, and so everything was registered as a "flu-like syndrome"

@albertoreale.bsky.socialSep 21, 2026, 9:29 AM

Yes, but I tend to think wastewater is the most "solid". I don't know how it works in other countries, but I know people who tested positive at home (two different persons, positive, with symptoms) however when they contacted the doctor for the sick leave they weren't considered as COVID cases

@albertoreale.bsky.socialSep 21, 2026, 9:11 AM

For the fact that in the last 2 years, the wastewater loads of virus are apparently going down compared to what happened before. But then, who knows.

There is this PJ.2.1 variant that apparently is on the rise in the US. I agree with you that we shouldn't be too confident about predictions, however, I hope that after all these waves of infection widespread immunity is limiting the diffusion of the virus. It seems a possible explanation

@albertoreale.bsky.socialSep 17, 2026, 10:58 AM

Any updates on the effects of PJ.2.1?

"OMG, look at my product, it's SO POWERFUL I'm SCARED 😱!!" Yeah buddy, sure we're gonna believe you and buy it 😂

Ja, "Untergang" muss es nicht sein, aber es könnte auch "sehr große Probleme" sein.

@albertoreale.bsky.socialSep 9, 2026, 10:27 AM

So is this evidence that the bat was lab-made? (Sarcasm)

@albertoreale.bsky.socialSep 7, 2026, 1:25 PM

Update after reading the summary: apparently his was a "typical" northern Europe oral microbiome, not distinguished from that of "commoners"

@albertoreale.bsky.socialSep 7, 2026, 1:22 PM

I haven't looked at the study yet, but it's most likely DNA. I.e the DNA of the bacteria. It's astonishing how stable that molecule is (Although, it's not technically easy to recover ancient DNA, it was a huge development and Svante Pääbo got the Nobel prize for it)

Even though in the case of vitamin C which is hydrosoluble, oversupplementing shouldn't be so easy or so dangerous, right?
