Each time I’ve dealt with a death I’ve reacted the same way . My processing is delayed.

I share this because #Autistic grief is different and everyone does grieve differently.
It’s just we don’t follow neuronormative standards of #Grief

I hope this helps any #Autistic person who feels alone

Grief is different ( of course ) for #Autistic people .
It does not always follow standard steps like sadness or crying…

Many #autistic people like me experience a delayed emotional reaction, where the full weight of the loss hits days, weeks, and even months later.

We had desperately hoped that my partner would be able to come home, where he could spend his final days surrounded by the comfort of home and the people who loved him.

Sadly, things didn’t work out that way, and we never got that opportunity….

My partner of 35 years died of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, a particularly aggressive form of pancreatic cancer, which had already spread to his liver and bones. The cancer had caused extensive damage…. 1/
