Roger Marshall’s complicated history of blurring the line between taxpayer dollars and campaign cash kansasreflector.com/2026/10/09/r...
Check out this collaboration between our @journalist-sherman.bsky.social and @ms.now taking a dive into Sen. Roger Marshall's "history of blurring the line" in his funding decisions.
According to Marshall’s most recent Federal Election Commission records filed in July, no one working for Marshall’s campaign had received a paycheck in the past five years — a situation that campaign finance experts said was potentially unprecedented in the modern era of politics. (2/2)
On Oct. 13, 2020, Marshall set up a "MANDATORY ALL-STAFF CALL" for both congressional and campaign staffs. Video shows Marshall leading conversations about the campaign. Government ethics experts said that meeting appears to have violated federal rules. #ksleg
Among other findings, Marshall's chief of staff in March 2020 instructed staff to fly Marshall “from Kansas to Sarasota as a stopover in the future" #ksleg
In joint investigation with @mepfuller.bsky.social, we obtained records from 2020 — when Roger Marshall first ran for Senate — that appear to show the senator and his top aide using congressional staff and government resources in questionable ways #ksleg kansasreflector.com/2026/10/09/r...

“I was called the darling of the Republican Party. I was called a new face of Gen Z Republicans in Kansas. I was labeled before I even had a chance to legislate. And when I did not live up to the hype, my own party turned on me.” #ksleg
Some good news to start the week: Two nonprofits will abolish $34M in medical debt for +21,000 Kansans.
“This isn’t actually about medical debt,” said Melissa Morales. “This is about a broken healthcare system that people can’t afford.” #ksleg

Lots of discussion during ICE raids in SW KS about whether it would raise the price of beef. The slow-down was too short (basically two days or so) to really have an effect, experts say. But ag relies on immigrant labor & reform is needed. kansasreflector.com/2026/10/06/k...
get ready for everyone to be extremely normal about this,
“You have a group of people whose only crime is that they came into this country and don’t have a green card or don’t have the right paperwork. If that’s their only crime, then why are they locked into a facility?” #ksleg
