Hinojosa is "showing voters that Republicans represent heedless, exploitative oligarchs. “It’s 99 percent of us against, like, 15 billionaire dudes and the weak leadership that allows them to get away with whatever they want."
Texas Democrat & Candidate for Gov Gina Hinojosa didn't single out Musk here but she's on the right track in calling out the tech bros this way: bsky.app/profile/news...
I think Ds have largely avoided big discussions of Musk because the other messages they're concentrating on our landing so well and you can only concentrate on a few things. But it's worth saying clearly that the GOP is the tool of maintaining Musk's power over American society.
I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation.
I will not be silenced.
GOP Rep. Tom Kean disappeared for 4 months & missed dozens of votes then finally surfaced, read a 5 minute speech saying he was at a mental health facility, refused to take questions from the press, and MAGA supports his reelection. But the Talarico hoax is career ending.
More to the point — people who stayed on the platform don't realize how inured to extremism they've become. They regularly get exposed to trending topics, and amplified content from verified accounts, that they would have recoiled from just a few years ago. I don't miss anything *not* being there.
An important bit of immigration law which is relevant here; there is already a waiver process — Section 212(k) of the INA — by which immigrants who obtain status through fraud that they didn't know about can avoid consequences like losing a green card. So this is *even weaker* than it already seems.

Don't forget that David Brooks dined for years with Epstein and his pet scientists at Epstein-funded dinners, then loftily scoffed at New York Times readers for using the phrase "Epstein class".
If there is good news, it is this: we are at the dawn of an age when no one will care what anyone who let Trump happen says about anything. I kind of think that’s a future worth living for.
There is absolutely no viable path forward for this country that doesn’t hinge on extreme accountability for everyone involved in this administration. They’re going to whine about politicization and credulous media types will echo them, but the thing is, they’ve committed tons of obvious crimes!

I do not think an exec branch led by a man who thinks he is entitled to treat federal agents as an arm of his firm, refers to Somali Americans as “garbage” and has said racist things specifically about Omar is capable of neutrally applying the law to her, to put it mildly apnews.com/article/ilha...
Let's be real, Guilfoyle's crime is not taking bribes. It was getting caught. And being dumb enough send all those texts to Deter.
In the Trump admin, crime is assumed.
If Guilfoyle wasn't running a pay-for-play scam, she'd probably be the only senior official in the admin who isn't.
A coordinated message from every one. Not a scolding or speechifying, each candidate opens their rallies by giving us an Elon Musk money dump truck update. "As of today, Elon Musk has spend $--xxx to defeat us." Make him an issue in every race.
X is the platform of choice for these smears. Musk himself pushed this conspiracy from his own account three times.
Democrats need to go to war against Musk because he's already attacking them.
He's deeply unpopular. And, as we saw in Wisconsin, voters recoil when he becomes an issue in a race.
The more combative Dems get, the more of this they will run into. It will be a coordinated wave of elite opinion, scolding them, tamping them down. The fight strategy *only* works if they are willing to bull their way through it, blow it off, mock it. (Their history does not raise one's hopes.)

"Jon Ossoff, my advice to him is, if you start calling your political opponents Nazis, maybe it's time to shut up. That's just not what we do here in this country." -- David Brooks, this evening. Remember, Brooks still gets very handsomely rewarded by the fossilized media for saying shit like this
