Here are more of our tips for during and after a storm.

White text on a blue background says, "During a tornado: Seek shelter in the lowest floor of a building, ideally a basement, away from windows. Mobile homes are not safe in a tornado; If you cannot get inside, stay in your car with your seatbelt fastened and your head below window-level or lie flat in a ditch or low-lying land; Use a battery-operated radio to listen to weather updates and instructions from local officials." Yellow text says, "Stay inside until officials say it’s safe to leave."At the top is a photo of a power line lying a cross a wet road with trees on either side. Below the photo is white text on a blue background that says, "After a storm: Watch out for broken debris, fallen electrical wires and damaged gas lines. If you smell gas, get everyone out of the building; Avoid touching any floodwater as it may contain sewage."At the top is white text on a blue background that says, "After a storm: Wash or sanitize your hands as often as possible; Do not try to enter damaged buildings; Check on neighbors, especially if they are disabled or elderly." Below the text is a photo of a person in a brown baseball hat knocking on a door with another person's shoulder and head in the foreground.White text on a blue background says, "Tips: Do not tape windows. Tape creates larger, more dangerous shards of glass; If you are out of clean water and cannot boil any, unscented chlorine bleach can be used to disinfect water. You can use 8 drops of 6% bleach, or 6 drops of 8.25% bleach, to each gallon of water; Texting uses less data and will likely connect you with friends and family faster than phone calls."

Parents make countless choices to keep their kids healthy. But no family can control the air, water or every exposure their child encounters. On Children’s Environmental Health Day, remember: strong pollution safeguards help give every child a healthier place to grow.

Extreme heat is a growing threat to children’s health and learning, as well as an operational challenge for schools.

In honor of Children's Environmental Health Day, we are re-sharing the American Psychological Association's report on schools, climate and health: vist.ly/5mkkh

The majority of Americans believe in the freedom of choice when it comes to reproductive healthcare, but lawmakers across the country are writing increasingly restrictive laws that limit providers' ability to care for patients.

A photo shows a person with red hair in a pink hospital gown sitting on an exam table in a medical provider's office. There are beige striped curtains coming in from the left of her. Below the photo is text that says, "Medical providers should be free to treat patients according to science, not politics." Beneath that text are logos for APHA and the Pro Democracy Narrative Project.
