After spotting their not-so-subtle workings, and their lodge, I saw WILD #BEAVERS in the wild this weekend at @kneppwilding.bsky.social. It's so flipping brilliant to have these habitat-restorers back in the UK. 🦫

The fiery heavens fade to meet the deep,
As amber embers wash the day away;
May gentle peace attend your evening sleep,
And open paths to guide a bright new day.

Chemist Dr. Carolyn Bertozzi is widely celebrated for founding & pioneering the field of bioorthogonal chemistry.

She shared the 2022 #Nobel Prize in Chemistry "for the development of click chemistry and bioorthogonal chemistry." 🧵

She was born #OTD in 1966. #WomenInSTEM #Chemistry 🧪

A portrait of American chemist Dr. Carolyn Bertozzi (born 1966), Nobel laureate celebrated for founding bioorthogonal chemistry. Taken by Christopher Michel in 2022, the composition captures Bertozzi seated behind a polished wood table, leaning her chin thoughtfully on her left palm. She wears a sharp black blazer over a white top, with four visible buttons on her sleeve cuff. Her short, wavy brown hair frames an expression of calm confidence, looking directly at the camera with a gentle, intelligent smile and striking blue eyes. The soft, cinematic side-lighting accentuates the contours of her face and hand against a shallow depth-of-field background, which subtly reveals a modern office or university hallway with neutral gray walls and distant doorway outlines. The mood is dignified, intellectual, and intimate, visually honoring a pioneering scientist whose historic achievements in developing click chemistry have fundamentally revolutionized biological research and targeted cancer medicine.

Chestnut-fronted Macaw (Ara severus)...tropical Central and South America.The bare white skin on its face can flush with a pinkish or reddish tint when the bird is excited, startled or emotionally stimulated. #birds #nature #biology #wildlife

A vibrant medium-sized parrot, the Chestnut-fronted Macaw (*Ara severus*) measures 17.5 to 19.5 inches long. It features rich green body plumage accented by bright blue flight feathers, red underwings, and a narrow chestnut-brown patch right above its hooked black bill. Bare white skin around yellow-orange eyes is detailed with delicate lines of tiny black feathers. Native to tropical Central and South America, it inhabits rainforest edges, palm groves, and riverbanks.

The prettier the butterflies 🦋, the more we study & protect them!

With L. Dapporto & M. Portera, we found beauty bias drives public attention, research & conservation efforts; but not IUCN Red Lists, which flag real risk.

Analysis of dozens of famous waves in world surfing reserves (WSR) found more than three-quarters were at high risk because of changing tide levels, hardened shorelines and shifting sands.
