It gets soooo much worse than this when you investigate the games that run on “whales” — those games that show up in ads are often fake with have limited playability, but they only need a handful of users who get addicted to it and spend hundreds of dollars on in-game progress boosts… predatory!!!

it’s monday
It’s like finding out your local Chinese place makes fried chicken and fries… it’s not, NOT food… just didn’t expect THAT food here lol
I’ve been thinking about this almost operating like the UI of text messaging, where DADRs are code blocks on the left and right going back and forth between the User, the LLM, and the outputs…
How should we track human decisions in the kind of data science project that Alex envisions, and how can we ensure LLMs implement our decisions faithfully?
One idea would be "Data Analysis Decision Records"
What do you think?
I'd love any feedback on #DADR !
I had a musician friend while I was growing up who told me “you have to make a lot of crappy music and be proud of all of it… that shows you that you’re growing”
“Wtf are you doing open…?” CMD+Shift+Q
Me: Hello Excel, I’d like to place this list of regular, plain old integers into the column please Excel:
To be fair, Deno has given me a headache at least once or twice behind the scenes…
The problem with betting on this angle is that someone needs to actually use the thing properly first, and we as a society just aren’t doing that. I’d rather wait another 3 years for cogsci research to figure out these LLMs than continue our current floundering
Harvard just dropped a study AI productivity in software engineering and it found the average increase in productivity from using Claude code is.....zero and for exactly the reasons you'd think
You and me both 🥲
“You live like this?”
{targets} and DAGs in general. Scientists should never write code longer than one script without declaring the dependencies from one stage to another.
webrarian is a new R package. It turns a folder of R scripts and data into a static website where R runs in the visitor's browser, with no compute server and nothing to install.
I knew livelink was going somewhere… this is about to get spicy
