Oh for sure, I feel like The Citadel and Nos Astra carried that torch forward in Mass Effect 2
Yeah it’s definitely an all time indie, I actually interviewed the dev and photographed the game pretty extensively back in the day heterotopiaszine.com/002-2/
Oh no it’s super bustling and energetic, especially the second one which the director told me was inspired by a trip to South America. You can really feel it
True, Gravity Rush even more so when it comes to flying cities. 2 has an incredible set of spaces, its a shame its not a better game
Its a very good one, though a little empty. I feel like we do get them more in sci-fi than fantasy.
Yeah I really enjoyed Sennar, some fantastic puzzles in there too
Haven’t tried it yet but did suspect it would be!
a pretty good summary of the kind of music I've been sinking my teeth into more since starting on Signet City Gareth's inspirations here have been such a good compass for the trajectory of the game's soundscape, and for my own research into developing our sound for Signet's musical identity
One thing I always feel I never find enough of in games is bustling, vertiginous fantasy cities. When they do appear they are so often dead or ghoul infested. I would love to play more games that had living cities I could wander.
Definitely worth looking at Sharn material then, loads of lovely details on travel, I especially like the idea of people being given featherfall tokens when they arrive so that if a drunk falls off a bridge they descend safely!
These thoughts brought to you by the D&D Eberron Campaign I ran a couple of years ago: I’ve been thinking of Sharn ever since.
I don’t even think it needs to be AAA either, The Ascent did it well for cyberpunk, I’d love to see something similar but in a fantasy/magitech world

A chairde: So thrilled to have been interviewed for My Perfect Console. At the time, I hadn't announced our studio or game, so I was selectively vague, haha! We spoke about my adoption, racism, the #Irishlanguage, the spiralling games industry & more.
What a delight Simon is!
Oh there's more! This one is awesome 👁️
Beyond being beautiful, this piece gains bonus points for breaking from the mass hallucination that has Emphis cooking Ramen 😅
