@laresistencianw.bsky.socialTsuru for Solidarity will arrive outside NWDC on the last day of their 48-mile pilgrimage walk from Seattle to Tacoma to remember the Japanese Americans who were impacted by the concentration camps during WWII.
@laresistencianw.bsky.socialJoin La Resistencia tomorrow October 10th outside the Northwest Detention Center (NWDC) from 1-3pm with Urban Grace Tacoma and Tsuru For Solidarity to be in solidarity with people in detention and their families.
@laresistencianw.bsky.socialA person detained in Northwest Detention Center contacted us. He asked us to share his story of the violence he faced at the hands of ICE.
Every detained person has a story. Every person detained by ICE must be freed.

@laresistencianw.bsky.socialThis is unacceptable. We ask the public to continue fighting with people in detention to shutdown NWDC!
@laresistencianw.bsky.socialRetaliatory actions like this have been happening for a long time. But now, these retaliations are being turned into official, legally enforceable policy.
@laresistencianw.bsky.socialMarvin says, “We want the public to know what is happening behind closed doors. We want them to know the truth.”
@laresistencianw.bsky.socialWith such limited access to the outside world it will be substantially more difficult than it already is for people in segregation to reach out to loved ones, to La Resistencia, and to fight their cases. In the event of an emergency, people in segregation are now left with almost no recourse.
@laresistencianw.bsky.socialNew policies have also been set by a new lieutenant about segregation, Lieutenant Baumse. People in segregation are now limited to only 2 calls and 2 messages a week.
@laresistencianw.bsky.socialGEO is purposefully withholding mail from being sent out, causing people in detention to miss legal deadlines for their cases, which leads them to be deported. Sending a letter used to cost a detainee up to $7. Now, it costs $15-$20. GEO is plainly stealing that extra money from detainees.
@laresistencianw.bsky.socialMarvin Arido-Sorro contacted La Resistencia to report ongoing retaliatory actions by GEO inside NWDC.
@laresistencianw.bsky.socialJuan Bazan is now receiving the medical attention he needs and says he is feeling better. We are glad for his freedom. Let’s keep fighting together so more human beings can be free as well!

@laresistencianw.bsky.social“It was very hard to get released because these detainment companies make money for every person they keep in detention. While detained I had a bladder infection and I use a walker. None of the staff ever helped me and none of the doctors ever cured me.“
@laresistencianw.bsky.socialAfter nearly 3 years in detention, 73-year-old Juan Bazan is now free!
@laresistencianw.bsky.socialThe flight was scheduled to leave around 2:40pm but did not leave. No one was brought to NWDC to be detained and no one was deported or transferred.
