I am genuinely excited that my poem 'My great-grandmother encounters Wagner on a train' has just been published by 'After...'.

Ich hatte @antjeschmidt.bsky.social, dass ich sie wissen lassen würde, wenn dieses Gedicht erscheint. Hier ist es also.

I am also proud to share this poetic space with so many wonderful poets, including, at the end of 2026, the great and much admired John Glenday. 4/n
It is an odd and touching coincidence that this poem, which focuses on my music-loving great-grandmother, is published today, 10th October, which would have been my opera-loving mother's 82nd birthday. 3/n
I began writing this piece during a Marjorie's Table session (led by Marjorie Lotfi), where we looked at Desree's 'The notorious B.I.G. and Jesus Christ on a Boat'. 2/n

Ach, it's okay. Tomorrow will see the publication of a poem very dear to me, and on a day that carries a lot of meaning for me, too – so it's all good. 2/2
Hot on the heels of poetry success follows another 'liberation' of poems email in my inbox. I think I have about 17+ poems now still looking for a home, and that's discounting those I'm still working to finish, as well as those I decided to 'give up' on (at least for the purposes of submission). 1/2
Being included in this wonderful issue of 'Under the Radar' is definitely one of my proudest moments as a poet so far. Thank you, @ninearchespress.bsky.social !
What I'm listening to at the moment.
Submissions for issue 23 (spring/summer 2027) are now open until 31 October! We’re looking forward to reading your short fiction, poetry, flash & essays 🎃
The rhetoric of tech in a nutshell: I value convenience, efficiency, ease first and also have no capacity to recognize humanity, my own or others, but feel qualified to run the world. Someone send an army of divorce lawyers; after all this guy already wants to disconnect.
It's telling that men would rather try to invent tech to replace humans' role in caregiving than step up as equal partners in parenting. Telling, that is, in that it shows how financial capitalism and patriarchy work together to dissuade men from doing "unprofitable" labor, like the work of care.
Yes! Yes to all that!
This news warms my poet heart. Congratulations!!!
Thank you! Not the Nobel Prize, mind you ;-).

'LLMs are not search engines or truth machines' gonna print this out onto a piece of card and brandish it at everyone I hear saying 'I asked ChatGPT'
