Very nearly a disaster this morning – I almost forgot to wear this tie! Many of you out there already know what this means in terms of my teaching schedule each semester…

That seems to be something that was added to the German translation, because I don’t do a calculation like that in the original (I only translated into US dollars). See attached. (And thanks for reviewing it! Hope you liked it! 😎👍)

Thanks!

Teaching about the Mycenaeans in class today (hence the lapel pin with the “Agamemnon” mask) plus giving a free online lecture on “Homer, Hollywood, and Historical Context” for the AIA at 8:00 pm EST tonight (hence the “Trojan War” tie). 1/2

We are discussing the Minoans in class today, so I am wearing a new tie for the occasion, which was gifted to me by a graduating senior this past May.

Phoenicians today, in class and on tie. With thanks always to Helen Dixon

Class today is on Heinrich Schliemann at Troy. This is the closest I can get to a tie with something close to the Trojan War on it. You’d think there would be a lot available by now, but no…

My guess is that they used AI to translate from whatever language it was written in and the AI spelled it that way.

No clue if he read them and nope, no consultation...

I think that this is one of the best, and most interesting, reviews of the Odyssey that I've seen (and not just because I'm mentioned...):

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey has sparked a resurgence of interest in the Sea Peoples. But who were they and should they be blamed for the fall of the Bronze Age?

So many choices this morning; decided to go with this as a tiebreaker 😂, even though we did Egypt last week. Hopefully my students will recognize it…

Teaching Mesopotamia, part one, in class today…

Look what arrived in the mail today! Hooray and congrats to Ken Feder! "Insightful, respectful, important, and a pleasure to read. It belongs on the bookshelf of every American," according to one archaeologist who blurbed the book. Get your copy today!
