Ran out to Sephora for a couple of things this evening and met some super helpful young people who are excited to vote in the upcoming election! And Sephora gives time off to its employees to go and vote — how cool is that?!

In Congress, I will support programs like SNAP and fight to ensure our community organizations have the resources they need from Congress to stay strong and continue serving Iowans.

It is clear that many people are struggling with soaring costs, especially combined with cuts to SNAP, Medicaid, and other programs. Demand for community support services has risen sharply. These community services were meant to work alongside government programs, not replace them.

A few days ago, I held a listening session to hear from service providers across Jackson County, including pharmacists, social workers, food pantries, and disabilities advocates.

In Congress, I’ll work with hospitals to identify bottlenecks to care so Iowans across the state can access quality care close to home.

We discussed how high drug prices for chemo infusions have forced them to send cancer patients to hospitals farther away and how Congress could help small and midsize hospitals like this one by changing requirements for critical access and 340B hospitals.

This week I met with Rachel, the executive director of UnityPoint Health–Muscatine, and had a chance to tour this impressive facility.

Even in the smallest of towns, we are seeing packed rooms of Iowans ready for real representation in Washington!

We should secure the border and deport violent criminals, not law-abiding, hard-working mothers. I hope Fatou will be returned to her family soon.

According to news accounts, Fatou has not committed or been charged with committing any crime. She is a hardworking employee of UIHC and has young children who are US citizens.

We need to bring Fatou Traore home. Fatou was arrested and detained by ICE a few days ago, and was sent to Louisiana to await deportation to Sierra Leone, a country with which she has no ties.

In Congress, I will work to repeal the Medicaid cuts, reduce red tape and increase reimbursement rates, and make sure we protect the safety of our healthcare workers.

Maquoketa residents rely heavily on Medicaid and Medicare for their care, and the impending Medicaid cuts could affect hospital operations. Low reimbursement rates and red tape in getting reimbursement are also serious challenges requiring federal action.

Yesterday I toured the Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa with the CEO, Kolin, and CFO, Kayla. They care deeply about serving their community, and it is an impressive critical access hospital.

Ended the night at the WY Saloon with a GREAT crowd in Wyoming, a lovely small town in Jones County! We’re feeling the energy and excitement everywhere we go, and we are full speed ahead until November 3!
