What comes to your mind when someone describes a game as having a “great story”? For me I tend to picture something that has a meaningful conflict mixed with either introspective or interpersonal drama involving a deep central cast and being tied together along some shared themes.

A manual confirmed it! This random blurb in a magazine is the word of god. You can tell that sonic team was so committed to this idea, that when they made a sprite of him sneezing they proceeded to cut it from the game and not use it.

I personally find it corny to rope in people's dislike of something else in order to farm engagement. Do you want people to engage with your work for what it is, or for what it isn't?

it started as "taiz gets laid out for like two weeks from an injury. it'd be kinda funny if he had some peach fuzz" and has turned into "maybe i should give pre-timeskip taiz the peach fuzz to accentuate the 19yo burnout look"

I prefer being invited to things rather than joining in on my own because, unless it's based on something I'm personally interested in, it feels awkward, like I'm intruding and have to justify being there. And if I'm not being engaged with, I have other things I can do instead to entertain myself.
