Danielle Smith shattered separatists dreams of a second kick at the separation referendum can today...
When asked if she would allow for another referendum, she said...
"Not as long as I'm premier".

I think she also said something about how she would move on and find more important things to deal with. Like a failing healthcare system, failing schools, oil and gas companies not cleaning up after themselves and coal mining in the Rockies were not already more important just to name a few.
Hopefully she won't be premier very much longer, but Alberta just can't help but vote conservative and they'll elect someone even worse next.
Brilliant stuff here that adds to the No to the Nine campaign for the Alberta referendum
I'll never understand why our gangster King Dug Ford is working so hard to kill the planet, including murdering municipal green building codes. The only available explanations are that he's a fucking idiot, MAGA, in the pay of Enbridge. Maybe all 3. #onpoli

Alberta's Energy Regulator only took 14 days to decide that it won't require an impact assessment for Suncor's plan to dump oilsands tailings into the Athabasca River endangering nearby/downstream communities & ecosytems. indigenousinsider.substack.com/p/sacrifice-... @brandimorin.bsky.social #ABLeg

"Pacific delegates were clearly frustrated at having to repeatedly retell their stories of climate change. But they were also generous in their wish for the world to engage with the reality they face."

Mark my words: Cro-magnon Premier #DougFord is about to discover that sending in workers to destroy existing, perfectly good, fully built & paid for infrastructure for no good reason is a really, really, REALLY bad look. #DougFord #onpoli #BikeLanes #cdnpoli www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...
"It's a lot, in some cases by design. Don't give up. Get back to basics. Be vigilant of the big picture but get busy at the local level where you can speak truth to power directly & see things change for the better before your very eyes, thanks to the efforts of you & the smart people around you."
Enter the Yes Agenda, a fascinating new project mapping 110 clean energy projects across the country. The country isn't lacking in clean opportunities, it's lacking the political vision for a 21st century clean energy system. www.yesagenda.ca
Carney's pitch has tried to rhetorically balance the new fossil fuel agenda with a recognition that clean electricity will be key for future economic competitiveness. But the new data shows our power grids are getting dirtier due to gas (and will get worse!) if he sticks with his plans.
Everyone can see new oil and gas projects are getting the lion's share of Ottawa's time and resources, but put that next to the latest emissions estimates that show electrification efforts are stalling too and Carney's sales pitch really starts to unravel.
"Should we be surprised that a banker is acting like a banker and inviting other bankers to come to Canada? Probably not. But I think the extent to which he is foregrounding fossil fuel infrastructure is a bit surprising, even to me."
New from me: Residents of a Northern California refinery town plagued by accidents urged government officials to pass stronger measures to protect them from accidents at a time when the Trump administration is undermining federal oversight. insideclimatenews.org/news/0910202...
