Sometimes, it's the next generation that are most ready to embrace change. Here, the seeds of next year's red maple have turned the brightest shades of red, amidst still-green maple leaves. I hope you find the changes that you wish for.

Photo of two red maple seeds (maple keys), still attached to their branch. The seeds are bright red, while the surrounding leaves remain green.

A shout of sudden colour,

The worlds reflect each other, but not in a visual way. Is there a concept like "cognitive reflections"?

Thank you Jenn, The festival was amazing. I learned so much, and now I know of many new-to-me poets to read!

Poets at the Emily Dickinson Museum's "Tell It Slant" festival discussed how poems themselves can take an active role in the composition process, writing themselves in collaboration with their authors -

how will I write you,
conscious haiku partner,
how will you write me?

Thank you, Tré, your close observation adds a second or third layer of lovely poetry (and teaches me new words - for which, additional thanks!)

I meant to say: your beautiful haiku!

@michaelmuller.bsky.socialOct 18, 2026, 1:00 AM

Linda, I had been thinking similarly, but your haiku has much more movement -

autumn leaves falling
like memories of summer -
which colors to keep?
