Big Tech is entering a new era, and so is CCDH. As emerging threats develop in digital spaces, our work is expanding to encompass these growing harms online around kids, AI, scams, human rights, democratic resilience and more. That’s why we’ve changed our name.
X's failure to enforce its own safeguards breaches the EU’s Digital Services Act and opens the door to the exploitation of children
We must hold X accountable before more kids are harmed:

X’s weak safeguards are enabling strangers to target young teens. In one test, an account registered as a 13-year-old received a direct message with the line “Hey daddy” after merely liking a post in an adult sexual community.
And it’s not just about exposure to pornography.
‘Teen’ accounts were easily able to join “adult communities” that share sexual materials and open interaction with unknown adults.

Kids are at risk. 5 in 10 searches of common sexual terms on X from teen accounts, resulted in explicit content for ‘teen’ accounts in the EU – including sexual acts and nudity.
Nearly 98% of test ‘teen’ accounts ‘For You’ feeds showed sexually explicit or suggestive content in the EU after searches for simple sexual terms like ‘sex’ or ‘porn’, according to CCDH UK’s latest research. Porn is less restricted on these feeds than the X profiles of porn producers.
Altman thinks the world should accept that bad things will happen in the pursuit of advancing AI. CCDH research warns what those “bad things” could look like, including chatbots writing suicide notes for vulnerable teens & helping plan violent attacks. We can't let Big Tech escape accountability.

Sam Altman thinks the world should accept that bad things will happen in the pursuit of advancing AI. CCDH research warns what those “bad things” could look like, including chatbots writing suicide notes for vulnerable teens and helping plan violent attacks, such as school shootings.
Following the stabbing of two Jewish men in London’s Golders Green, our researchers found that prominent Jewish individuals and organizations were widely targeted in hateful X posts filled with celebrations of violence. We need to hold X accountable for rampant antisemitism. Add your name 👇
The U.S. Envoy to Combat Antisemitism claimed that X’s location-labeling feature has led to a significant decrease in antisemitism on the platform. Despite this, our research has found antisemitism has been thriving on the platform before and after the introduction of this feature.
Musk promised action against Grok's generation of sexualized deepfakes of kids. But @nytimes.com reported more than 60 instances of Grok-generated CSAM on X. Kids are facing greater risks online than ever. Download our Parents' Guide one-pager for tips to help protect your kids online👇
Yesterday, our CEO @imranahmed.bsky.social testified before the New York City Council on the urgent need to regulate AI.
CCDH has shown clear evidence of the lacking safeguards on AI tools, finding that chatbots are willing to provide dangerous advice to young teens & help plan violent attacks👇

Our “Killer Apps” research found that 8 in 10 AI chatbots were regularly willing to plan violent attacks.
If tech companies were willing to self-regulate, why wouldn’t they institute robust safeguards from the outset.
We need real laws for AI companies: act.counterhate.com/page/152823/...
