I'm like 70 percent sure the trend got so big because it allows restaurants to save money on meat by giving customers less meat of lesser quality, because you can't notice as much when its mashed and crispy.
lockdown put so many people online who never woulda had reason to go online and basically destroyed the only space where existing weird and autistic was safe. and there is a bizarre number of weirdos who are happy about this because of moral gymnastics

So it really disheartens me that so many alleged progressives go in on how great it was to blow up Japan, because even if fighting Japan was the right thing to do the objective of the bombing was not to help Japanese nor was it to help the people the Japanese Empire was killing and oppressing.
Strategic bombing is a means of waging war that you can only undergo if you're primary interest is killing as many as possible and destroying a society, rather than actually liberating people. This is why it was/still is most often deployed in [East] Asia. US military saw/sees them as less human.
Multiple northern cities were entirely destroyed by aerial bombing. This is why the weird fetish/worship for American strategic bombing in WW2 has never sat right with me. As soon as the war ended those tactics were used for much less justifiable wars later, and to this day.
