More than 6 in 10 people in Holborn and St Pancras stayed at home yesterday. Of those who voted, more than 50% didn't get the representation they asked for. Regardless of who you supported, we can hopefully all agree: we deserve a better democracy.

"There are several reasons for the UK to adopt a more proportional voting system of which the most important is the moral one: it’s fairer." A letter by our Chair Susanna Dammann has been published in the Guardian:

Great to see figures from across the political spectrum join the calls for PR. Our campaign is not about party politics. It's about building a democracy that works for everyone, regardless of how or where they vote. When all voices are heard, the whole country benefits.

📺 Make Votes Matter in the news 📺

Our CEO @emmacampaigner.bsky.social appeared today on the BBC's Sunday Morning Live, alongside Sir John Curtice and Lord Robert Hayward.

We deserve better than this broken voting system that leaves millions of people ignored.

It's time for PR 💪

At Green Party Conference in Brighton, we spoke to loads of members from around the country - including its Deputy Leaders @rachelmillward.bsky.social and @mothinali.bsky.social!

It's great to hear that the party is united in calling for fair votes for all.

❗️Important point by our youth coordinator Livvy Gibbs: FPTP is the only system that could allow an extreme government take 100% of the power on under 30% of the vote, putting our rights and freedoms at risk. PR would not just make our democracy healthier now, but also help safeguard its future.

Are you at Green Party Conference today? 💚

Join us and @unlockdemocracy.bsky.social to discuss the threat that First Past the Post poses to our democracy, and how we can fix the system.

"It was really quite an emotional moment." "This will change British politics for good and forever." At Labour Conference, we asked MPs, councillors and activists about Andy Burnham's electoral reform announcement. Here's what they said 👇

We welcome Andy Burnham's announcement of a National Commission on Electoral Reform. Last year we published a proposed Terms of Reference 👇 Our voting system needs an upgrade. It's time for a national conversation about what comes next.

The vast majority of European countries use forms of Proportional Representation, and have done so for many decades. Not one of them has a significant grassroots campaign for switching to First Past the Post.

@makevotesmatter.bsky.socialOct 1, 2026, 11:20 AM

"Make Votes Matter CEO Emma Harrison said: 'This is a historic moment. For too long, our dysfunctional voting system has denied millions of people a  meaningful say over who governs them. Burnham has the opportunity to be remembered as the Prime Minister who changed British politics for good.'”

@makevotesmatter.bsky.socialSep 30, 2026, 5:11 PM

"Speaking on a panel for Make Votes Matter in May, Sir John also highlighted the unfairness of the current system where a party can win many votes but still come away with very few seats."

We are using suffragette colours, as we have since 2015. We oppose transphobia and all forms of hate and discrimination.

Today's announcement marks the beginning of the end of First Past the Post. To everyone who has contributed to our movement over the years: we can't thank you enough. Now let's push PR over the finish line 💪💯 A message from our CEO @emmacampaigner.bsky.social:

I cannot ‘like’ this enough! Fantastic news: long overdue, perhaps a step towards a 21st century Liberal democracy!

❤️❤️❤️ This is your achievement too. Thank you for all your brilliant work on this issue.

So pleased to hear this confirmed in the PM’s speech. Big congrats to @makevotesmatter.bsky.social and all who’ve campaigned for it! At last we have a chance to restore trust in our politics with a system where “everyone’s views count and everyone’s vote matters” 👏👏👏
