Every time i see a focus group where they talk to 2024 Trump voters about how they are feeling in the midterms now, I feel absolutely dumber. Like...I'm sorry. They're so damn dumb. Incredibly dumb
This man is so dumb. Like incredibly dumb.
Only the ābest peopleā for this administration. Honestly, these ppl have been the best promotion for āDEIā you could ask for because it shows that so many of the ppl complaining about DEI are actually unqualified incompetent idiots
Lmao
Every day Iām reminded that the two largest A.I companies also happen to be some of the mostly poorly run and incompetent businesses weāve ever seen
it happens so often. And it's almost never them called in to fix it.
sound security practices are the first thing the business idiots running companies want to cut. They won't say it that way but i've been in enough meetings that have some exec saying some form of "I don't understand why we can't just..." after having security compliance explained to them
saw one of the security guys at anthropic write a post trying to defend his fellow security engineers and folks dunked on him but I just felt bad for him. Because I actually believe their security folks are probably good and probably know the right things to do but are getting constantly overruled
this isn't about "rogue software". It's about a culture at these companies that prioritizes being first and breaking every common sense rule in engineering
The shortcuts they were willing to make knowing the long term harm is why i roll my eyes every time I see these A.I. companies talk about their 'escaped rogue agents'. Cause i know, somewhere there's an exasperated engineer going "I told you so. Why didn't you listen?"
Instead of making them follow the process, document their stuff, properly test it, etc. Nope. It was always "i hear you but we just don't have time and we really need to do this".
when i lead an infra/devops team one of the biggest arguments I kept getting into with leadership was why we didn't just give the development the permissions they asked for to deploy their untested software to production.
I think the people at the top have been looking for ways to go extremely fast without having to be held responsible. When you have actual people in the loop, those pesky humans have a way of constantly telling you the problem and therefore you are liable. If itās a machine, they can feign ignorance
that's the thing i've never been able to understand. What do you mean you gave the thing that hallucinates 10% of the team direct access to your most critical stuff? as a person with admin privileges I don't even trust myself...and you just want to "YOLO" with a bot? i mean...ok
Ah. The business class and execs are learning about the basics of computer security and the concept of āleast privilegeā. I mean thatās something I would have thought of and addressed before accumulating billions of debt and opening myself up to legal repercussions butā¦good for them
Data centers
Ah. The āgood and ethicalā A.I. company
I swear the best anti-A.I. propaganda is just letting these idiots continue to talk
like you can tell these things are made by people sucking at the teat of overvalued companies hoping for stock payouts.
