Shane Steichen has heard the criticism of Carlie Irsay-Gordon’s presence on the sidelines, and he’s not having it.

@joelaerickson.bsky.social@joelaerickson.bsky.socialUpdate!
It looks like Matt Goncalves, and by extension Tyler Warren, can drink the football as much as they want
www.indystar.com/story/sports...
@joelaerickson.bsky.socialMatt Goncalves hasn’t had his appeal on the chugging fine yet, after two other players reportedly got theirs rescinded
@joelaerickson.bsky.socialThere is a lot going wrong with the passing game.
The biggest, and theoretically the easiest to fix, is that the QB needs to make better decisions when it feels like he doesn’t have anywhere to go.
@joelaerickson.bsky.socialArden Key's 'gonna miss some time'
Might be time to give Caden Curry and George Gumbs a few more chances. Or go out and try to find something off the street.
@joelaerickson.bsky.socialThe Colts have played overseas three times in four years, and it can feel a little familiar at this point.
Then Spencer Shrader starts talking about getting to kick as a pro in a stadium he once dreamed of playing soccer as an EPL star.
@joelaerickson.bsky.socialWith two more scores on Sunday, Jonathan Taylor is now the NFL's all-time leader in international touchdowns.
And it's clear he embraces the moment, because he still remembers being the small-town kid with big dreams www.indystar.com/story/sports...
@joelaerickson.bsky.socialThe Colts signed Darius Slayton to help fill the gap at WR without Alec Pierce.
But Slayton has now been inactive two straight weeks, including this week with Keenan Allen unavailable, and it’s fair to start wondering when the help is coming.
www.indystar.com/story/sports...
@joelaerickson.bsky.socialBernhard Raimann’s OK, he just needed to get his ankle taped.
Jaylon Carlies, Arden Key and Ashton Dulin have injuries to monitor
@joelaerickson.bsky.socialDarius Slayton being inactive for the second consecutive game is a developing issue.
@joelaerickson.bsky.social17 things to watch in today's international game, including the No. 17 whose absence looms large for Washington
@joelaerickson.bsky.socialThe two 50-yarders Spencer Shrader hit on Sunday - while dealing with an injury, no less - got me thinking:
It's time I start recalibrating my sense of what's a long kick. Feels like everybody blasts away.
"Not everybody. Just guys like him." www.indystar.com/story/sports...
@joelaerickson.bsky.socialThe Colts clearly believe Daniel Jones is close to fully recovered from his torn Achilles tendon. They're calling QB sneaks, after all.
Which means the turnovers so far might just come down to playing a couple of defenses that give him trouble.
www.indystar.com/story/sports...
@joelaerickson.bsky.socialThe Colts need to give Adetomiwa Adebawore as many chances to rush the passer with DeForest Buckner as possible.
Three games into the season, Adebawore's been Buckner's best running mate, by far www.indystar.com/story/sports...
@joelaerickson.bsky.socialBrian Mason says he expects Spencer Shrader to be able to kick this week in London. Might be some load management this week, but Colts are confident.
@joelaerickson.bsky.socialTravel’s already been a big story once in this NFL season.
Washington’s leaving for London Tuesday. Indianapolis is leaving Thursday.
Why the wait for Colts?
“Well, because it’s worked.”
@joelaerickson.bsky.socialLaiatu Latu has a chest contusion, and he should be fine. Spencer Shrader is dealing with the groin injury, but Colts believe he should be fine. Ashton Dulin is making progress with the ankle injury that's kept him out two weeks.
@joelaerickson.bsky.socialTwo things can be true:
1. It is ridiculous that the Colts are still asking DeForest Buckner to carry the pass rush on his back.
2. It's remarkable, after that neck surgery and the uncertainty of the offseason, that Buckner is still playing like this.
@joelaerickson.bsky.socialLaiatu Latu got back into Sunday's game, but he didn't offer a lot of details on the chest injury that knocked him out for a while
