Cowdog Milk

A cartoon drawing of a Holstein-patterned dog with udders wearing a collar and cowbell. A Tetra-Pak carton is titled with the words "Cowdog Milk / Lait du Vache-Chien." The same cowdog is seen with a farmhand , who is feeding them a Milk-Bone.

On Photography

A scanned image of a comic page drawn in a sketchbook. A wolf is shown taking photographs, examining negatives, and using photographic equipment throughout. In the panels, it is narrated: "I like to take smartphone photos throughout the day, and see them only in the evening. I like to shoot on film and examine the negatives as soon as I receive them from the photoprocessor's. I take an instant chemical photo, and wait...impatiently...for it to come into view. I cut a piece of Sun Print paper and place it in an old 35mm SLR and expose it for thirty minutes."A scanned image of a comic page drawn in a sketchbook. A wolf is shown taking photographs, examining negatives, and using photographic equipment throughout. In the final panel, he is sculpting a figure with clay. It is narrated: "I sneak a snapshot of the film on offer every time I visit a department store. I spend 45 minutes wrestling with a self-made custom hold punch mechanism to make my own 126 film, in total darkness. The frustration of wrangling film in the dark is a sharp contrast to events of the previous week...of sustained, child-like joy of sculpting with clay for the first time."

Toastober Day 11: Toaster

Always check the toaster.

#toastober #toastober2026 #thething #amongus #webcomic

Black and white three panel comic titled "Body Snatchers". In the first panel, three man stand around in a kitchen tensely. One points at the others, and accuses, "One of you is the monster in disguise!". In the next panel, we get a close up on what of the accused faces. He retorts, "How do we know it isn't you?" In the final panel, the first man says, "Wait, where did Terry go?". One of the three men is now missing, and the toaster in the background licks it lips.

Hey just wanna get some eyeballs on: @postlaty.bsky.social

Which appears to be probably a scam pretending to be some kind of AI slop multiposter service? For a fee, of course.

So a scam either way really.

this is the ultimate end point of capitalism, ai will completely atomize everyone and there will be zero shared experiences. there will be no culture, only pure consumption. this must be resisted

I keep trying to think of any historical example where a given technology's PROMOTERS AND TRUE BELIEVERS were like 'we are absolutely going to ruin your fucking life so be prepared like it's the end of the world'

Andrew Curran: Axios is reporting that the top labs are wargaming scenarios for the aftermath of a catastrophic event in the next 6 - 12 months, that some executives now see as being inevitable.

Axios: Top executives at Anthropic, OpenAl and other Al companies are privately gaming out scenarios for a public and political revolt after a catastrophic AI event.
Why it matters: These officials anticipate a large-scale event, most likely a cyberattack, that shuts down access to financial services, internet connectivity, or even power and water.

Edouard Harris: This is our view as well. Relatedly, average people will want to increase their level of personal resilience and preparedness as their resources allow. We will be publishing about this soon.

Nick Farina: Best ways to be prepared? Generators, water, books and DVDs?

Edouard Harris: Power, water, food, sanitation for most part. Parts of this depend on your geo latitude - solar vs propane for eg.

But also: set aside a computer that is not (and ideally has never been) connected to the internet. Buy faraday pouches and tape. Print out essential docs on paper.
