What my gym lacks in a pool, it makes up for in an abundance of free weights and a blessed lack of TVs. I've fully gone over to the dark side, it's great.

Gym girlie, you say?

a sure sign that something is "highly accepted" is if you have to threaten to impose the power of the state against those who don't accept it

Shit is exhausting, pocket friends, but today Dog Sadie found a secret outdoors-only toy in the hall closet and this is the best day of her life.

A sleeping brown dog with a blue long Nerf toy tucked under her paws like she's a toddler, 10/10

On a train heading into NYC, and the guy behind me is telling the stranger next to him anecdotes of how wobbly skyscrapers are. Turns out the stranger is a structural engineer who specializes in skyscrapers. First guy moves seats ASAP. I love this for both of them, just in different ways.

Sure, that clears it up, thanks.

A screenshot of Merriam-Webster's thesaurus sidebar, where they list the various meanings of the word you're looking for a synonym of. This one reads:
Thesaurus
Synonyms of "cockalorum"
as in "gasconade"
as in "cock"

(These are not the words I would have chosen as "as in" words, but what do I know?)

Yes! Making for peeps is a type of communion with them, too! It honors and acknowledges who they are to you and reiterates their worth! ❤️

This weekend I volunteered at a conference about art where the care and attention paid to human experience, the dignity and joy of making stuff with your own two hands, and conversations with complicated people fed my stony soul. Flee this AI horseshit, make things, and be with people. It's good!

Going to have to start checking the game calendar so I don't accidentally wear the opposing sides colors, lest I cause my brethren to stumble, go birds.

Lo, mark ye the changing of seasons (e-commerce edition):

Two marketing email subject lines that arrived, one after another, in my inbox today, September 10, the beginning of Commercial Fall. They read "Flannel Projects Are Back" and "Darkness. On demand. Finally."

Texting with @skleinedler.bsky.social and he responded to me whining about something linguistics adjacent with, "you could kill two wugs with one bowl by..." and this is now my new go-to proverb.

Pro tip! The less you post about "Lake America," the less written evidence of its use there is, and the less likely any reputable dictionary company will enter it into their dictionaries. ONLY *YOU* CAN PREVENT BAD LEXICOGRAPHY
