We’re challenging federal funding cuts to Oregon’s unemployment insurance system and fraud detection. This matters to Oregon families: if an Oregon worker was just laid off, they need to receive benefits on time so they can pay rent and buy groceries while looking for their next job.

AG Rayfield challenges federal funding cuts to unemployment system & fraud prevention AG Rayfield and a multistate coalition are challenging the US Dept. of Labor's decision to cut off federal funds for improving Oregon’s unemployment insurance system and fraud detection. The lawsuit challenges a Trump administration decision to cancel more than $45 million in grant funding owed to Oregon and other states. Congress created these grants in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic to help states catch fraud, make it easier for eligible workers to get benefits, and get payments out faster.“If an Oregonian loses their job, they need to be able to navigate the unemployment system, receive benefits on time, and trust that the system is protected from fraud. A strong unemployment system means a worker who was just laid off can still pay rent and buy groceries while looking for their next job. We’re not going to let the Trump Administration get in the way of strengthening a program that Oregon workers rely on.”

Our Medicaid Fraud Unit is working every day to make sure Medicaid dollars are helping vulnerable Oregonians – and not going in the pockets of fraudsters. We recently announced that Advantage Dental will pay $4.5 million for improperly billing calls to the Oregon Health Plan. Read more:

AG Rayfield announces that Advantage Dental will pay $4.5 million for improperly billing calls to the Oregon Health PlanAG Rayfield announced that Advantage Dental Services will pay $4.5 million to settle allegations that it improperly billed the Oregon Health Plan, the state’s Medicaid program, for phone calls to patients that the company claimed were for legitimate dental care—but that allegedly didn’t give patients real dental advice or even have patients’ permission for the care. Advantage Dental allegedly made thousands of these calls to pad numbers to meet requirements for certain Medicaid payments.“The Oregon Health Plan is funded by taxpayer dollars, and Oregonians expect that those funds will pay for health care—not bogus gimmicks that don’t offer any actual care. Advantage Dental put profits ahead of patients. If you bill the Oregon Health Plan, you need to deliver real care, and we’ll keep holding providers accountable when they don’t.”

We’re standing up to protect food security and nutrition assistance programs that benefit children, seniors, and low-income families in Oregon. The Trump administration wants to “reorganize” the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, but this move would threaten programs like SNAP and WIC.

AG Rayfield takes action to protect nutrition assistance and food securityAG Rayfield and a multistate coalition are supporting a lawsuit challenging the Trump administration’s attempts to “reorganize” the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Oregon partners with USDA to provide life-saving nutrition assistance to children, pregnant & breastfeeding women, seniors, and low-income families through programs like SNAP, WIC, and the National School Lunch program. Gutting the national USDA infrastructure would threaten these programs and hurt Oregonians. “Nobody should have to wonder where their next meal is coming from. Programs like SNAP and WIC feed Oregon kids, seniors and families who are working hard to make ends meet. Trump calls this a reorganization, but gutting the people and systems that run these programs means people go hungry.”

We’re fighting back against a new Trump administration rule that would make it hard for people to get and keep health coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Working families across Oregon rely on the ACA for health insurance, and we’ll keep doing everything we can to protect it.

AG Rayfield fights back against rule that would make it harder to get ACA coverageWhat happened: AG Rayfield is pushing back against a Trump administration rule that would make it harder for people to get and keep health coverage under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The rule would pile new red tape onto ACA enrollment, drive up healthcare costs, and push more people into losing coverage altogether. AG Rayfield and a multistate coalition are supporting a lawsuit challenging this rule.“Everyone deserves access to quality health coverage—it keeps families and our entire community healthy. Struggling families don’t have time to sift through a mountain of red tape just to make sure their kid can see a doctor when they’re sick. We’re standing up to make sure that no one loses health care because of unnecessary bureaucracy.”

To check eligibility & file a claim: Visit www.AGGenericDrugs.com Call 1-866-290-0182 (toll-free) Email info@AGGenericDrugs.comWhat happened: AG Rayfield and a bipartisan, multistate coalition announced a $400 million settlement with generic drug maker Sandoz over allegations the company worked with other drug companies to push up prices and shut out competition on dozens of common generic medications, costing patients, families, and taxpayers. Oregon could receive approx. $4.76m: $1.8m in damages, Medicaid reimbursements, and other agency recoveries, and an estimated $2.96m for eligible consumers who were harmed.“These companies are finally being held accountable for the harm they’ve caused to Oregon families. We are making sure that they’re repaying patients and taxpayers, and ensuring that they are never again able to work in secret to drive up costs on the backs of struggling families.”

This week, we pushed back against TWO attempts by the Trump administration to roll back environmental protections: one for fossil fuel power plants, and one for vehicle efficiency standards. #orpol

We’re standing up against a new Trump administration rule that would make Oregonians pay more for gas. The federal government is trying to roll back fuel economy standards and let automakers sell less fuel-efficient cars and trucks – and we’re pushing back.

AG Rayfield takes action to stop Trump from gutting fuel economy standardsAG Rayfield is taking action to stop a new Trump administration rule that would roll back fuel efficiency standards and let automakers sell less fuel-efficient cars and trucks, a move that means Oregonians will pay more at the pump. For nearly 50 years, federal fuel economy standards have required new cars to go farther on a gallon of gas. “When gas prices are at an all-time high, it’s astonishing that the Trump Administration would want to roll back fuel efficiency standards,” said Attorney General Rayfield. “The administration’s actions would cost families and small businesses billions of dollars, increase air pollution, and lead to even hotter summers.”

The Trump administration is trying to roll back federal limits on greenhouse gas pollution from the country’s largest power plants — and we’re pushing back. We cannot let the biggest polluters off the hook while working families pay the price.

AG Rayfield takes action to restore limits on power plant pollution AG Rayfield has filed a lawsuit to stop the Trump administration for scrapping federal limits on greenhouse gas pollution from many of the country's largest power plants. Earlier this month, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) repealed rules requiring coal- and gas-fired power plants to cut their emissions. That decision opens the door to more pollution, which means hotter summers, stronger storms, more flooding, and more wildfire smoke.“Oregonians know what a changing climate looks like. We’ve lived through the heat dome and summers where the smoke was so thick our kids couldn’t play outside. Pollution doesn’t stop at state lines, and power plants are one of the biggest sources of it. The law requires EPA to do something about that. Instead, the Trump Administration is letting the biggest polluters off the hook and leaving families to pay the price.”
