kinda chic to represent South Carolina’s First District

My statement on the conditions aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln.

Last week, I had the opportunity to talk with healthcare professionals through out the district. They agree: the cost of healthcare is too high, and it’s driving families into debt. I will fight to ensure that our Lowcountry community has access to quality and affordable healthcare.

There’s no better place for good conversation than a local barbershop. I stopped by the historic Singleton’s Barbershop in Beaufort to talk politics, community, and the issues that matter most with Ken and his customers. Grateful for the conversation, the candor, and the chance to listen.

The average age of a first-time homebuyer is over 40 years old. This is not surprising, especially when you look at the cost of single family homes in this district.  I will fight to bring down the cost of housing and ensure that hard work can once again equal getting ahead.

The Purple Heart is one of our nation's most respected military decorations. It is awarded to the men and women of our Armed Forces who are wounded or killed as a direct result of enemy action.

The Lowcountry is worth fighting for and I want to meet you in every corner of it. With 90 days until Election Day, I'm committed to showing up where you are. Host an event, invite your circle, or simply open your door. Fill out our event inquiry form and let's get to work!

On Tuesday, I visited the USS Yorktown. As a former Navy helicopter pilot, walking her decks brought back a lot of memories and reminded me of the oath I took to support and defend the Constitution.

Nothing defines America more than freedom. I spent 35 years defending it in uniform, and I’ll continue protecting it while serving in Congress. Happy 250th America!

Patriotism is about loving this country enough to serve it, to defend the Constitution, and do the hard work of making America stronger for the next generation. That’s the kind of patriotism I believe in.
