Yeah, great point. Ironically, the comedy offsets some of that as they can lampshade it a little, but that can only go so far. We're approaching the end given it's now merged two books and there's only one left to adapt (to date), so it'll be interesting to see if they can still make it all work.

Secret 'built-in audience of millions' tie-in comic book series that I wrote (that isn't Thunderbirds) is close to being announced, and I am both very excited and slightly terrified. Also, I can't lift my left arm, and my doctor suspects my fingers are suffering from RSI. Presumably unrelated?

That's entirety fair. I think a small part of me is longing for something it never was due to a gap I'm looking to fill (some of it research based). It never ruins my (high) personal enjoyment, mind, it's just something that felt a little more emphasised after reading.

-- but it's a double edged sword when you have to show them as bumbling and unfocused in early scenes and then flip it in the third act (some seasons are more successful than others at this). I'd say, personally, it's a tonal trip that comes having to lean into the differences of the medium.

I don't disagree, but for me the show occasionally plays the into the comedy of this a bit too much. It's less of an issue in the novels, but visually we get a lot more contrasting 'look at these buffoons' moments which undercuts the balance. The actors are amazing at subtle and visual comedy --
