It's harder and harder to avoid AI, but making a choice to use it feels like dying on a hill just so you can have a treat. And the idea that regardless if I engage with a project, other people end up paying the price in some form, is just salt in an open wound. Empathy is dying, but I still care.

I think the insistence of using AI in gaming projects is making me more grumpy and I've started equated games to toys in a negative way. It feels childish to NEED to play XYZ game within ABC other game and it feels childish to handwave any and all ethical concerns.

The recent Brawlback implosion was a mess but I'm let down upon learning that the current incarnation of the project isn't without AI assistance anyways. I know it's not a big deal to some, but as someone who waited years for it, it's OK if I don't play it at all. It's just a toy man.

This is way more petty to say but a lot of my natural influences have kind of been bled dry for surface level "aesthetics" rather than genuine inspirations to a point where they're no longer unique. (Jet Set Radio, Ridge Racer Type 4, etc etc) Only thing to do now is to get more varied ones?

We're getting to the point where people younger than me are bathing in an overly glamourized version of the mid 2000s, dog I was a kid in the Xbox 360 era and it did NOT look like the aesthetic edits ya'll are making.

God I get it... I could go on a rant about how a lot of y2k inspired design language is just blending together without a cohesive vision but I fear I'd just be an old man yelling at clouds.

My biggest nitpick is people using inaccurate bumpers when making fanmade Toonami promos. I know it is very trivial and not worth getting mad at, but using 2022 footage when you're going for a 2000s aesthetic is just incorrect.
