Interns get to do REAL work with Team Scholten. At the conclusion of every cohort, our interns have the opportunity to present to me bill ideas they’ve developed during their time with us. It’s sort of like Shark Tank. I love listening and asking questions, the future is in good hands!

My thoughts are with our neighbors in Dearborn. No one should face hatred, intimidation, or discrimination because of their faith or identity.

On August 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment was ratified, finally granting women the right to vote. Today, we remember the generations of women who fought for the ballot and keep up their fight to make sure every eligible voter can make their voice heard.

I toured the Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling facility in Grand Rapids to see their production line in action and meet some of the people behind the products shipped across Michigan. It’s great to see the work happening in our own backyard and hear directly from the people keeping West Michigan moving.

West Michigan is a powerhouse for aerospace and defense manufacturing, supporting more than 8,700 jobs across our region. I sat down with local industry leaders to talk about strengthening American manufacturing, supporting small businesses, and building a strong local defense industrial base.

LAUP has spent decades helping Latino families access educational opportunities, develop community leaders, and strengthen economic opportunity across West Michigan. These conversations inform my work to lower costs, improve access to health care, and support small businesses.
