Getting ready for my upcoming race in the only way my ADHD brain understands: applying track decals to my new helmet 😹

Photo of the back side of my helmet, colored purple and pink with silver detailing. Around the base I’ve added a purple and pink Drift SF sticker, along with decals for various tracks I’ve raced on. On the left side, tracks include Buttonwillow and Thunderhill West, as well as a segment of Highway 9, jokingly referred to as Nine-burgring.

Photo of the back right side of my helmet. On this side, track decals include Laguna Seca, Thunderhill East, and Sonoma. There is a large empty space where I intend to place a Road America decal in two weeks time.

I wanted to write something wise about the evolution of our understanding of consent and sexual violence but nothing I could put to words does it better than this comic:

Canonically Correct Pythonista Breakfast

My plate of breakfast, with scrambled eggs, some slices of well cooked spam, and a slice of buttered toast. Not pictured is my daily Diet Mt Dew 😹

@nileane is the cause of these rants located there, or are you really good at saving your rants for when you get there? 😅

@offby1 @SnoopJ the Witness is genuinely great fun if you like puzzle games though, and I did also enjoy Braid way back in the day. Underneath his absurdly pretentious exterior lies a decently talented puzzle maker and environmental storyteller.

[linkedin solicitation (stupid kind)]

@SnoopJ I got this type of low effort spam all the time from when I worked at Facebook, because I would roll out updated formatting to the entire monorepo, which would result in formatting commits in 50-70 different OSS projects. I would either get tagged […]

the best board game thst represents capitalism isn't Monopoly, it's actually Jenga. each party takes turns to make the current situation more precarious until a total collapse where only the last person to fuck up takes any blame while everyone else is declared the winner

@adamchainz and I would be remiss to forget Esc-e to open the current command in my editor of choice (vim ofc) and then when I save/exit the updated command is on my prompt ready to be run

This and so much more in my publicly available zshrc and the rest of my dot file repo […]

I love pairing this with Esc-h to shelve the command, run ‘man <command>’, and then unshelve the command again. Even better is that if you have a piped command, it knows which part of the command your cursor is on and shows the appropriate man page. :blobfoxcomputer:

It’s a bit of a wild trip writing green field code for work, reading documentation for upstream libraries I’m using, and seeing them recommend using OSS libraries that I wrote. Like oh shit, I’m supposed to be an expert at this? 😹

LOL, spent five minutes trying to figure out where some debug logging was coming from, assuming that it was part of the database ORM I'm using and wondering why I couldn't silence it, only to dig deeper and realize it's coming from the async database driver below the ORM — you know, the open […]

My home internet finally came back around 30 minutes ago, just shy of *35 hours* of downtime. 😮‍💨

My fiber internet has already been completely out for 14 hours today, and AT&T is now saying it will be restored *tomorrow night* 🤯🤬

Screenshot from the AT&T internet portal: "There's an outage affecting service in your area. [...] Your service should be fully restored by Wed 10/07/2026 08:00 PM PDT". I have scribbled a lot of red lines under the day.

And yet, nothing bums me out more than seeing my work gobbled up as training data for soulless machines to reproduce a dozen hollow facsimiles in hundreds of meaningless requests for more extruded text. To see issues and PRs on my projects to make some change without any attempt or capability of […]
