As an Army JAG, I oversaw the post-trial legal proceedings following Nidal Hasan’s horrific attack at Fort Hood. I believed then, and I believe now, that he should face the fullest consequences of the law. But live-streaming his execution is what terrorists and authoritarian regimes do.

The proposed merger between Dominion Energy and NextEra Energy could have serious consequences for the hardworking Virginia families I represent. I joined Sen. Warren and Rep. Subramanyam in sending a letter to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission urging them to closely scrutinize this deal.

Today marks three years since Hamas carried out the horrific October 7 massacre in Israel.   We remember those who were killed and stand with the families and communities who continue to grieve.   We must continue working toward a lasting peace that brings security and stability to the region.

It was great to attend a Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration during a Prince William Board of County Supervisors meeting.  It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the rich culture, history, and contributions of the Hispanic community in Prince William County. Thank you for having me!

Last Thursday, I attended a Shadow Hearing on Election Protection and Security in Fairfax County. Protecting our elections and ensuring every eligible voter can participate safely and securely are essential to maintaining trust in our democracy.

For more than three decades, Pamela Oakes, a special education teacher, and Linda Jesionka, a teacher assistant, have taught side by side. This World Teachers’ Day, I’m proud to celebrate educators like Pamela and Linda who go above and beyond to ensure every student can learn, grow, and thrive.

October 5th is World Teachers’ Day. I’m proud to say that some of the best educators in the country are in VA-07! One of those teachers is Brooke LeVecchi, the new principal of Woodbridge Area Elementary School. I’m grateful for her dedication to our students.

Eight years ago, Virginia resident and journalist Jamal Khashoggi was brutally murdered.   I joined colleagues in Virginia's Democratic delegation in renewing our call for Trump to release the transcript of his 2019 call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman following Khashoggi’s murder.

The VA needs to be able to retain the medical professionals our veterans depend on. But right now, VA doctors are subject to a salary cap, and the VA can only waive that cap 300 times nationwide. I’m pushing for solutions that give the VA the tools it needs to compete for talented providers. (3/3)

The Fredericksburg VA Health Care Center needs more staff, plain and simple. The dedicated people working there need support, and our veterans deserve timely, reliable care. As I told CNN, I’ve been fighting to fix these staffing shortages, and I’m not letting up. (2/3)
