Left YIMBYism is very clearly a) the right strategy, and b) ascendant. The SF left chooses to ignore this at their own peril.

@cafedujord.bsky.socialOct 12, 2026, 3:20 AM

NYC, Chicago, LA, Washington, D.C, Seattle, etc. are all killing it. Meanwhile, "leaders" of the SF left are still falsely claiming that supply and demand isn't real, and complaining about market-rate apartments replacing an abandoned carwash. So embarrassing.

@cafedujord.bsky.socialOct 12, 2026, 3:18 AM

It's genuinely remarkable (and extremely frustrating) how much better the left has gotten on housing production and zoning in virtually every big city other than San Francisco

Discretionary review for the addition of the exterior stair!

@cafedujord.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 9:58 PM

Doing "single-stair reform" that requires a second stairway on the outside of the building might be the most San Francisco thing I've ever seen

read your editorial. thought it was awful. question: why does the editorial consist of virtually no info on Caltrain, which serves more stations in San Jose than BART, and is planning for the same closures/cuts as BART should RTM fail to pass? shouldn't San Jose voters know RTM impacts Caltrain too?

I am once again being threatened with a good time!

Badly need the next one to feature a diorama

20 apartments replacing one single-family home? Based as hell, you guys!

Laughing my ass off at this absurd anti-SB79 NIMBY display board seen at a San Mateo HOA candidate forum tonight

Should Californians vote to scale back #CEQA via #Prop45?

I'll be on @kqedforum.bsky.social today at 10am PT to discuss, along with @cafedujord.bsky.social and @jason-elliott.bsky.social.

Tune in on KQED or stream live here:

The org was too split to take a position, which is ultimately much better than the alternative. But there are apparently a surprising number of people who think sprawl is just fine. It's pretty dispiriting.

@cafedujord.bsky.socialOct 3, 2026, 7:37 PM

It's bad! It guts environmental review for harmful projects like exurban sprawl, freeway expansions, data centers, and other polluting facilities. We've already done CEQA exemptions for infill housing, public transit, clean energy, etc. Additional reforms would be helpful, but not like this.

#NOon45

CEQA was created when new highways and highway expansion were destroying communities.

Prop 45 would roll out the red carpet for just the type of projects that we created CEQA to prevent.

After voting, YIMBY Action leads couldn't reach a consensus on Prop 45, and won't be making an endorsement! This means that not a single YIMBY org in California is endorsing the measure (with one opposed). CEQA "reform" for sprawl & freeways is bad! Glad most of us recognize this. No on 45!

Why did a High-Speed Rail Authority board member carve CAHSR out of Prop 45 (on the ballot in November), which streamlines a variety of more harmful projects from CEQA?

The law has long helped stave off problems for communities, wild spaces and ecosystems and, as such, has been praised for enhancing California's natural landscapes and quality of life. But CEQA is also blamed for obstructing needed work, and critics have no shortage of examples of when the regulation has brought seemingly endless delays and frivolous lawsuits.
"It's egregious to suggest we need housing proposals to go on for 19 years and we need a decade of public comments " said Jason Elliott, a longtime policy guru and onetime advisor to Gov. Gavin Newsom. Elliott helped write Proposition 45.

Many are asking!!!

YIMBY Action leads are voting on a recommendation for Prop 45 today. If you or any of your friends are on the fence, I highly recommend reading this great thread. Tl;dr: AB130 already exempted infill housing from CEQA. Prop 45 would just open the floodgates for sprawl.

Its insane how much housing isnt getting financing right now because lenders just dont want to fund it over other shiny object initatives. Truly bizarro world.

@cafedujord.bsky.socialSep 25, 2026, 7:30 PM

You mean to tell me that building more sprawl doesn't actually do anything for urban affordability and is instead predominantly a wealth transfer from those areas to exurban ones? I'm shocked! Anyway, vote no on Prop 45.
