Just once I want to see this guy face a consequence.

I have reached the stage in job hunting where I have made vegan macarons, onion jam, and built an entertainment center. Someone please stop me and give me a job.

Hi everyone, it's new article day. 🥰

Gabriel Leão had a chance to interview Peach Momoko, a generational talent, whose stories and art have infused a fresh, new energy into Marvel's stable of iconic comic titles. It's a fantastic piece, and we hope you enjoy it.

Hey, so this article is awesome \o/ Props to Gabriel for an amazing job on it, and to @trentlcannon.bsky.social for being a fantastic editor from start to finish

Me: I need to stop reading trash romance manga. Also me: This one is called My Favorite VTuber is Scary IRL. It is amazing (at being trash).

Remember when Crunchyroll tried to make their subtitles significantly worse a year ago? They backtracked on it at the time, but I suspected they were just delaying their plans to shift from Aegisub to OOONA, and sadly, it seems I was right: Crunchyroll is actively pushing OOONA subs to users now.

If I made a newsletter/website like Substack (but not substack because Nazis), would people be interested in it? 1-3 posts a week about anime and video games and whatever other pop culture stuff I can think of. Never done this before. Feels like the right time.

Yesterday I added a new byline to my resume: Radio Times.

Hoping to do more work for them going forward because boy do I love writing about anime and video games and getting paid for it.

I should mention that he ended up as Spider-Man but ya'll don't get to see pics of the boy so just use your imagination.

My son decided I needed to be Green Goblin, so that's fun.

"Trent Cannon came into his own as pop culture’s most versatile journalist in this digital age" is the new fucking tagline on my CV. Thanks, Chris,for the kind words and for letting me come along for the ride.

Today is the last day of Popverse as you and we know it. You can find us here:

- @ashleyvrobinson.bsky.social
- @grantdearmitt.bsky.social
- @juleschingreene.bsky.social

and our always:

4 years, 4 months.

@trentlcannon.bsky.socialSep 25, 2026, 2:42 PM

And that was it. 5 members of staff (and me, a freelancer who acted like I belonged there). 6 people running a comprehensive pop culture site that was not just surviving but thriving. Who knows how far we could have gone if we had been given a chance?

@trentlcannon.bsky.socialSep 25, 2026, 2:42 PM

Jules and Grant brought wonderfully unique perspectives and grew better and better each month. They are a pair of writers that will elevate any team they are on. Ashley is so good at what she does it hurts. She can interview anyone or host any panel. A remarkable talent.

@trentlcannon.bsky.socialSep 25, 2026, 2:42 PM

We were on track to double our annual traffic for the second year in a row. Considering it was such a small team, that is remarkable. Chris and Graeme are great editors, who gave us the freedom to do our thing and the guidance to do it well. They made me a significantly better journalist.

@trentlcannon.bsky.socialSep 25, 2026, 2:42 PM

This, as you may note, fucking sucks. While I am upset to have lost my most stabled source of income, I am also upset that it happened when the team literally did everything right. We were on track to double our traffic for the second year in a row. We smashed our targets every month.

@trentlcannon.bsky.socialSep 25, 2026, 2:42 PM

Today is the last day for @popversesays.bsky.social staff, which is the end of it in its current form. I have a lot of feelings on this, which mostly can be summed up with "capitalism sucks". With no more news, features, or guides happening, the Popverse we built is ending.

@trentlcannon.bsky.socialSep 23, 2026, 5:17 PM

My girl is back.

@trentlcannon.bsky.socialSep 22, 2026, 7:54 PM

Better you than me.

@trentlcannon.bsky.socialSep 22, 2026, 12:48 PM

Spent the past two days pitching and contacting editors at outlets because I got bills to pay and Popverse ain't paying anymore. If you know of anywhere hiring journalists with years of experience covering pop culture, hit me up. I need the work.
