A volunteer effort to support Acadia and the National Park System. We are not park employees, only supporters who care a whole awful lot.

OMG, men. ππ«ͺπ€¦ (To be fair, though, if dumpkin spice is what it takes to combat pheromone maxxing, I'll take it...)
When I tell you I RAN to my collection of early-1900s books to see which needs repair first... π I'm loving this trend of small bookbinders, but this is the first one I've seen that does full antique restoration. New rabbit hole unlocked!
Jeffries last week, Putin this week... Jared's a busy boy. π
Thank you, @salinas.house.gov!
Poll workers are essential to a functioning democracy, especially this time around, when ππ€‘ and his π§ minions are threatening our right to peacefully vote. Power the Polls is working to amass the resistance on election day- here's the link to get involved.
DONβT FORGET SATURDAY!! Noon to 1 pm on the BRIDGE! Damariscotta/Newcastle Bring Signs and Friends!
NPS employees are bracing for a potential agency shakeup as park superintendents nationwide are called to unusual mandatory meetings later this month. 20 former superintendents raised concerns about a potential NPS reorganization & urged Interior leadership to proceed with transparency and caution.
(Referring to Susan in this clip. @mainenewsroom.com, we appreciate all your hours of work!)

9/2 Maine Senator Susan Collins says she'd consider seeking a 7th term if she wins again in November, blames voters' concerns about elected officials' ages on President Biden #maine #MEpolitics
Let's do this! ππ How do we submit a candidate for you to take a look at? @troyjackson207.bsky.social has been a champion for our north woods over his entire career. (NMW isn't a national park, but it's a prime example of public-private working forest partnership.)
Via Rep Sophie Warren (District 124) on IG, a big πWTGπ to the Gorham town council for unanimously approving a ban on data centers last night! Let's keep up this momentum. πππ²π
Last week, the administration announced its intent to rescind travel management regulations which could open the door for conflicts between users. For decades, the Travel Management Rule has helped the Forest Service manage different types of recreation on the 193 million acres of land it manages.
Just now reading up on the new @parkspac.bsky.social:
"Public lands are on the ballot. Parks PAC mobilizes voters and resources to elect leaders who will protect Americaβs national parks and public landsβnow and for generations to come." That's our kind of people!
Dale Sanders started Sept. 6 in West Virginia, hopscotched around with some brief breaks and finished Monday atop Maine's highest peak, where he paused to pray at the sign marking the summit. https://to.pbs.org/4i4MslF
1500 already-approved maintenance projects have been sidelined for the narcissist-in-chief's vanity projects. Yes, they ARE deliberately sabotaging public lands in order to more-easily justify privatizing them. π‘
I'm a big fan of preserving venison (or moose, bear, etc) via pressure canning. It's shelf stable and sooooo tender. There are lots of instructions available online. (Safety first, please- no rebel canning! π΅)

Itβs nice to see a politician do more outdoors than golf. But Iβm personally offended when I see J.D. Vance enjoying National Forest lands. Like wow, you just helped kneecap the agency, its people, ~7,000 gone, then go out to enjoy the land and its stewardship like nothing happened.
Noting that both flash floods were exacerbated by climate change is neither competing nor comparing devastation levels. But you do you- have a lovely day.
This may surprise you, but the Grand Canyon is... in the US. π€·
