Four days after Musk wrote, “Zelensky has gone too far.”
Trump and Musk going all out to protect Putin

@gordonofseattle.bsky.social
I share about walking, biking, great cities, & progressive politics. I work for @streetsalliance.bsky.social (Seattle's walking, biking, and streets for people nonprofit), but these are my personal opinions.
Trump and Musk going all out to protect Putin
Drivers never have to lift a finger or pay a dime to get yet another $15M per mile 14’ lane added But to protect their free, life-saving, narrow slice of the street, people riding bikes are expected to work unpaid part-time jobs as activists & lay down in front of trucks - and not metaphorically!
Four days after Musk wrote, “Zelensky has gone too far.”
Who are folks liking in the urban/streetscape design space these days? An ideas competition for the Pike/Pine corridor is brewing and want to make sure the brief hits the right inboxes
NYC is a funny city because on the one hand it's clearly at the forefront of American culture and business, and on the other you hear announcements like "we just discovered the idea of curb-side trash cans 🗑️🎉" and "we are not allowing horses to poop on our streets anymore 🐴🍾"

It's important we don't fall for talking points from the right. Let's make sure we are not adding to suburban sprawl and harming our green spaces, waterways, and farmland. I'l continue to fight for affordable housing through density, social housing, affordable housing, and community landtrusts.
Their vision calls for the "phase out the use of fossil fuels." What do that think that means? Vibes and wishes? This is a big public works project to convert old fossil fuel infrastructure into a sustainable community street. Of course it's hard and controversial, changing the status quo always is
Not in line with the San Francisco DSA's conception of the Green New Deal: Converting a car highway that is slowly being consumed by global warming fueled rising sea levels into a sustainable community space for people to walk, bike, run, and play. Feels like parody at this point.
Update on S Henderson St protected bike lanes in South Seattle: I checked them out this morning, & the Toronto style concrete mini jersey barriers & concrete curbs all appear to be complete. The bicycle signals are installed & operating but covered up. I think we’re close to them officially opening!
This game is very fun, very funny, and also really shows you car dependency step by step, as you slowly transform a transit rich downtown with homes everywhere to a sad sea of parking lots serving only offices. A+
You don’t think we should allow people to build more homes in Mt Baker and Montlake, which are next to light rail stations, because they have 80 year old houses?
Today’s new apple is actually unidentified because I found it growing on the side of the Snoqualmie Valley Trail. Small, tart dense, and delicious — perhaps an escaped Gravenstein?
Tonight’s apple: McIntosh. Ate two slices and decided to turn the rest into apple sauce later. Thick skin and soft insides is a bad combo. Nice flavor but I can’t mess with that texture.
Somehow our families managed to have a great time at Gas Works Park today despite the recent removal of the ladders and scaffolding that teenagers kept dying on 🤷🏼♂️
The more combative Dems get, the more of this they will run into. It will be a coordinated wave of elite opinion, scolding them, tamping them down. The fight strategy *only* works if they are willing to bull their way through it, blow it off, mock it. (Their history does not raise one's hopes.)
"Jon Ossoff, my advice to him is, if you start calling your political opponents Nazis, maybe it's time to shut up. That's just not what we do here in this country." -- David Brooks, this evening. Remember, Brooks still gets very handsomely rewarded by the fossilized media for saying shit like this
PSA: Cafe Hagen Waterfront is closed today due to a power outage. Still beautiful spot though!
The Ave for All was so great. Watched many surprised to see the space for them to enjoy. Lots of fun activities and tables to sit down and eat. Overheard lots of conversations where interests were shared, along with other wonderful stories in people meeting. This is what cities are for.
