DE: Wenn man vom großen Parkplatz zum Botanischen Garten geht trifft man sofort auf den 21 Mwter hohen Elisenturm. Der Turm wurde von Stadtrat Engelbert Eller 1838 auf den Fundamenten einer alten Windmühle als Sternwarte. 1960 wurde der turm saniert und ist heute im Rahmen von Führungen zugänglich.

EN: Walking from the large parking lot to the Botanical Garden, you immediately encounter the 21-meter-high Elisenturm (Elise Tower). The tower was built in 1838 by city councilor Engelbert Eller on the foundations of an old windmill as an observatory. It was renovated in 1960 and is now open to the public for guided tours.

Virtual Ghost

I downloaded twenty years of videos
then the headset came to life.
A good friend I’d lost touch with
appeared in the kitchen
like a bright ghost chopping veg
for our favourite soup.
I reached out to him
and when he wasn’t there
I wiped away tears
for all the years we’d missed.
He blamed the onions
and laughed at me
for being a baby.

I asked him
how he was getting on
and he let me know
he'd become confused
about what was real or not
because he’d spent too much time
staring at screens.
He was glad to come round
to clear his head
and cook us both a soup
like the good old days.
