Humans are messy. We triumph and we fail and we spend way too much time focused on things that don’t matter. I spent most of this season trying to figure out what went wrong with the Seattle Mariners, and my best guess (short of insane conspiracy theories)? They were, simply, human.
I’m so sorry to hear this, Brent. Thinking of you both, and am grateful you shared some of her story and photos with us.
[Sitting in a circle, dissecting Taylor Swift’s new release] Well, I know she didn’t write this one for Ichiro
He’s literally self-actualizing as we watch
Four words was enough here, I think
Two rookies diverged in a Mariners dugout
This story from @davyandrewsdavy.bsky.social has everything: Wildly irresponsible wielding of wealth, class divides in a small town, a Willy Wonka metaphor that made me laugh out loud, and even more reasons to be appalled by the Angels. One of my favorite baseball pieces of the year.

Amidst some of the most exciting and meaningful baseball in the Mariners’ history, Luis Castillo headlined two of my most joyful memories as a Seattle fan: His acquisition in 2022, when they (finally!) went all in; and this, his home debut, which felt like pure magic
If we don’t have good vibes, damnit, what else do we have? Congratulations!!
It brings me no pleasure to report that Jimothy entered the Salmon Run at the Mariners game today and, of course, won. Truly nothing is sacred.
This year, I committed to watching Love Island for the first time, because I wanted to be able to understand and participate in the discourse. That same motivation inspired participation in my first mock draft. It was a real journey @lookoutlanding.bsky.social
Now this is an elite pull
Bryan Woo setting a new record for most consecutive scoreless innings at T-Mobile Park on the night he hosted nine Seattle Children’s patients and families is magic ✨ (Photos from @ Mariners Instagram)
Benny and eight of his fellow Seattle Children’s patients and their families are at the game tonight, and I genuinely cannot imagine better good luck charms
Bryan Woo and the Mariners held a reverse card signing today with kids from Seattle Children’s. Super fan Benny was delighted to meet his favorite player Julio Rodríguez, who signed his jersey “Benny’s fav” - in return Benny drew Julio a picture to display in his locker
The last time the Mariners scored more than 3 runs was June 12, which was the same day Team USA won 4-1 (🤨👀). Since then, Belgium, Senegal, France, Morocco, Portugal, Spain, Japan, Netherlands, Canada, Switzerland, England, Norway, Sweden and Germany have all had matches where they’ve scored 4+
Okay so what do I have to pay to see Nelson Cruz swing for the fences in Seattle again? I have no dependents and an increasingly-shrinking belief in the concept of retirement
Priceless though, really
Happy 10-year anniversary to this game, which features a team of players I’ll still be able to name when I’m 80 and Dave Sims at his absolute, most incandescently unhinged best.
Perfect people, perfect looking beverage, perfect giveaway jersey
