I think you are talking about Amtrak and not MARC. There are no upgrades or bigger seats on MARC Train. Every seat is a coach seat.

Shhh, don't tell anyone there's a train between DC and Baltimore for only $9! No driving, no stress, no searching for and paying for parking... Sit back and relax.

@mta.maryland.gov MARC Train!

Our current reality makes it easier to support and fund roadway expansion. It's an issue across the political spectrum. However, we simply can't build our way out of congestion. One less lane, at least one more train... Or bus, or bike etc...

The War on Cars is coming to Baltimore!

β€œRiders are really excited about these lanes,” Yablonsky said. β€œThe buses breeze by these previously congested roadways that always made [trips] late or unreliable.”

While longer single unit LRT trains are more common internationally, most U.S. operators use shorter trains that can be coupled together to form longer ones. The MTA Maryland Purple Line will use longer trains though those will only operate as single units.

Some U.S. light rail operators are looking at longer base unit trains to increase capacity. This 190 ft concept unit is about double the length of a standard single car train. Space that would have been taken up by end cabs can now be used to hold more riders.

Leaders on Tuesday announced that a second Pennsylvanian train will start running on Nov. 18, doubling the service on the 444-mile route.

A downtown built for the movement of people will always feel better than one built for the movement of cars.

Nighttime bus appreciation in Seattle.

These pictures are from last week. I'm not currently in Seattle.

Corrected: Why We've Sabotaged High Speed Rail in America. It could work if big oil and the airline industry weren't afraid of it. There are plenty city corridors that are the perfect distance for high speed rail. We could afford it if we wanted to and had the political will to make it so.

It's spooky season πŸ‘»

@jahorne.bsky.socialOct 4, 2026, 3:33 PM

Yeah, parts of it do though I'd argue that the MBTA Green Line in Boston is the most tram like in the United States.

@jahorne.bsky.socialOct 4, 2026, 3:28 PM

They don't really. It's a Light Rail system and this happens to be the one fully underground station.

The Portland Airport (PDX) expansion featuring mass timber is absolutely stunning. The wood takes a place could otherwise feel overly sterile/clinical and adds a sense of warmth and depth that is more inviting.
