It's a prices up, real-wages down CPI report. In fact, here's the real hourly wage for pvt-sector workers since Trump took office. It's back to where it started. Working families are getting squeezed on both sides (wg, price) of the affordability crunch.

New research alert: Proactively guaranteeing tuition and housing tripled enrollment for low-income students eligible for automatic admission to UT Austin from high-poverty schools #rct doi.org/10.3102/0162... @mattgiani.bsky.social @drflorespolicy.bsky.social @joribarash.bsky.social

This figure shows the share of recruited students who submitted an application to, were admitted by, preliminarily enrolled in, and officially enrolled in University of Texas Austin. Recruited students are both eligible for free or reduced-price lunch and among the top 10% of their high school graduating cohort by GPA as of the end of their junior year. The outcome is the average share among the sample of eligible students in 32 high schools, with half randomized into each treatment arm. Error bars reflect a 95% confidence interval for the sample mean. The treatment effect estimates are from regression models of the UT outcomes on a dichotomous indicator of the Outreach plus Guarantee condition. Percentage points are denoted by pp. The standard error for the treatment effect is shown in parentheses.
Students in the Top 6% of their HS class are guaranteed admission. Among these students the enrollment rates of the treated group was 30.2% compared to 11% in the control. Among students not guaranteed admission (7-10%) the enrollment was 6.1% for the treated and 0.3% in the control

A Federal Rule about the Decennial Census would eliminate race/ethnicity questions, alter the timing for ?s on people's usual residence, restrict use of some disclosure avoidance rules, and prohibit questions on sexual orientation (not asked now). Comment here: www.regulations.gov/commenton/US...

The Department of Education's research arm appears to have gotten essentially all its funds out the door in FY26. This must have been tricky to report on given the number of people who didn't want to talk or go on the record with reporters.

Women really are retarded. This one has a phd from Harvard and still can't grasp simple concepts. She actually posted this thinking she was clever. A dimwit can see the glaring error of her simple thoughts.

These are what you call middle-upper class townies. They look great on paper, seem competent when you talk to them, but have no idea how the world works or any real common sense as to how things relate to other things, with no real beliefs of their own to boot.
I see these types of women in software all the time - many of them were shoe-horned into their roles by a system that wanted to "promote women" at any cost, and really are not good at this kind of stuff or have any actual interest in improving the products they work on.

people will go "YOU SEE IT DIDN'T MATTER AFTER ALL" but regardless of whether TWFE is ultimately useful or not that all DiD chaos was a net good because it clarified the estimand.

Two-Way Fixed Effects and Modern Difference-in-Differences: An Empirical Comparison

Peter Hull, Brown University
8 October 2026

This note compares two-way fixed effects (TWFE) estimates from top general-interest journals in economics with estimates from the group-time difference-in-differences estimator of Callaway and Sant’Anna (2021; CSA) and the imputation estimator of Borusyak, Jaravel, and Spiess (2024; BJS). We use recovered observation-level data and focus on binary treatments with staggered adoption. Sign reversals are relatively rare, and especially so with statistically significant differences.

Among my value-adds to this SAT at UC debate? I calculated the rates of Ds and Fs in every entry-level calculus course at UC Berkeley from 2017 to 2025 to show that while average GPAs stayed THE SAME, the D/F rate jumped by nearly 40% on average (from ~8% to ~11%).
