Sounds entirely reasonable. 👍🏻
Steam trailer and overall aesthetic is giving off strong PACIFIC DRIVE vibes; I do love me an anomaly-recovery premise. But yeah I can see what you mean about the focus on driving...
Oh woah that looks very interesting and very much My Jam.
I mean basically if it's at all true it becomes every reasonable citizen's duty to wipe data centres off the face of the planet. I'm actually good with that.
(I agree with the general sentiment of your post though!)
Is this true though? I’ve seen many ppl sharing this bots story and also many ppl debunking it. If only there was a reliable source of truth to turn to.
Having long been aware of those tech bros who read my work as utopian porn, where they’ve taken that doesn’t exactly surprise me.
“Blade Runner” concept art by Syd Mead. Of all his paintings for the film, this one is easily my favorite.
Shot/set in Newfoundland, Canada. Can’t wait to dive in!!
It’s one of my all-time favorite games. It’s absolutely gorgeous, and made by an incredible. Explore the quiet* apocalypse. *Until you get mauled by a grizzly. A heavy snow is falling. You’re bleeding out. You can’t feel your feet. Find shelter, make some reishi tea, and patch up that wound, fast.
Me too!
Seems like Burroughs also borrowed the name from another author/story?
Oh yeah we can get them pretty easily in BC, like at the regular grocery store (don't need to go to specialty delis or anything).
I think those are examples where a great film was derived from good source material, but using Blade Runner as an example, it has almost nothing to do with PKD's novel and really should have/could have been named something else entirely without detracting from it. It's not really an adaptation.
Sure, individual translators might choose to use different words or represent ideas differently, but you wouldn't expect a translate to change plot, characters, or other critical elements of a story. That's not their job.
#1 rule of adaptation is to respect the source material and the fans. There is no rule #2.
Yes, 100% to those. I also think financiers want the safety of an established IP/thing but also want to attach really strong director talent to it and those directors naturally want to do their own thing. Flanagan should make original stuff and let someone else work on proper adaptations.
Yes please! I'm sure others here would agree? Let Jacquelyn know. (Text or video?)
