Said at the time the story wasn't "England cricketer goes for a drink" but "Drunk Rugby Union player attacks soneone"
Then again 'RU player is drunk thug' isn't much of a story, is it?

Brian Blessed’s birthday is an excuse to share one of the greatest paragraphs in any memoir ever.
It's still £15 in the Midlands
So @hullfcofficial.bsky.social how come you charge £3.50 per ticket in "fees" to book online when Warrington Wolves using *exactly the same* ticketing platform just charge me the face value of the ticket?
Tickets bought for *both* Rugby League games in Dublin next year! Now to re-mortgage the house to pay for a room in Dublin for the night...
Amused by posts claiming that the Greens going anti-Semitic is the work of "arrivistes", ex-Labour members or "Corbynists" It's a party full of cranks and extremists. Many of them already thought this. Just like too much of society at the moment they now feel emboldened to say it out loud.
Simply put, across the US and UK, university administrators, their management consultants and their funders no longer consider the arts and humanities worthy of being studied, taught and transmitted. Their vision of human society is anti-humanist. No wonder the kids are at the barricades.
"Students will be able to undertake a modern language module ...[and] that it 'remains committed to a vibrant music culture on campus' through choirs, orchestras, performances and creative opportunities." #Nottingham
Such respect for the subjects. A hobby.

I was head of Mail Order at one point. One year the GW owned stores made a significant, loss which was cancelled out by the profit from Trade Sales (independent retailers). MO made a £1m profit that year. So basically Mail Order was the only thing keeping GW in the black.
'The University of Nottingham has confirmed that it will close its music and languages departments as it presses ahead with more than 500 job cuts despite widespread opposition from staff and students.' A blight on East Midlands and UK higher education.
560 (!!!) FTE cuts approved & closure of music and languages courses. absolutely horrific proposals coming out of Nottingham.
measuring ‘interest’ in languages in n of students on UG degrees is so disingenuous—language modules can be combined with anything!
That's the public reason. The real reason was online discounters without the costs of maintaining a store could discount to a damaging degree. So they introduced terms that gave independents with physical premises better terms.
In the early days the GW store opening plan was based on: "Does this town have a football team in the top division?"
Crank Party Embraces Antisemitism Shocker!
We’re just normal men
Another day, another reason to post this...
